Solid win for Marshall. I think Tech could match up well with Marshall if we play some defense.

This wasn't a La Tech loss. It was a UTEP win. The Miners fired on all cylinders today. Moore, Wynn, and Harris were lights out. McCree was obviously hindered. Despite that, the Bulldogs had great performances from freshman Derric Jean and sophomore Boykins. Some times you just run in to a buzz saw. UAB put 81 on ODU in Birmingham last year shooting over 70%. It happens. Marshall, La Tech, and UTEP are all playing at a very high level right now. UAB and Middle are just a small margin ahead.

Congratulations! The Herd is very talented. Unfortunately ODU just lacks enough offensive threats. Good luck till we meet again.

No disrespect to the other top teams but I think Marshall is our best chance to win a tournament game. They have several great shooters and a potential nba quality big man in Kelly.

That same formula took VCU to the final four. Clearly I don't think Marshall is a final four caliber team, but with the kind of shooters they have, they can beat almost anyone on a good shooting night.

It's almost hard to believe that D'Antoni has basically flipped this program from a losing one to a winning one in a season. And he has done it with nondescript players.

Players that were not on the floor for Marshall last year that have played:

CJ Burks - Redshirt Freshman
James Kelly- Transfer from Miami
Terrence Thompson- Transfer from Georgia Highlands College/Charlotte
Jon Elmore- Transfer from VMI
Stevie Browning- Transfer from Fairmont State (DII WV college)

Three of the five mentioned are WV kids in Stevie Browning (Logan WV), Jon Elmore (Charleston WV) and CJ Burks (Martinsburg WV)

No, that's fair. I enjoy Marshall's play and the transformation they have undertook is still pretty miraculous to me. I definitely think they could upset someone if given the chance.

Naturally, I feel like UAB can get an upset or two as well, but anyone underestimating Marshall's tempo will be punished.

The tournament is definitely going to be interesting.

Marshall's post-conf tourney chances remind me of the game-show Jeopardy! It is statistically HARDER to get on to Jeopardy! than it is to succeed once on Jeopardy! IF MU can get to the NCAA (or NIT) tourney, I like the Herd's chances to pull of an upset or two because the Herd is such a difficult team to prepare for on short notice. MU's hardest task is going to be getting through the CUSA tourney (in reaching the NCAA) and/or running the trouble to get the regular season title (and the NIT auto-bid). CUSA teams are at least going to have one game against MU (and possibly two) and are going to be difficult to beat.

And (to repeat myself) - the top 7 or 8 in CUSA (at times) are difficult to differentiate. At least the top 7 or 8 are all capable of playing quality bball against one another -- making the upcoming tourney a guess to predict (IMO).

The rest of CUSA wants you to keep your coach.

I don't know about this, UAB has a great young roster and well LA Tech has been on a roll for more than a few years now. For Marshall to be competitive and win outside of the conference our defense needs to stay consistently good. The last 2 games have been better than they have been the whole year.

Charlotte basically fell apart in half two. The Toppers shot an abysmal 30% and still won, that tells you a lot. If we had some shooters we win this game going away. If the 49er's don't make a boat load of turnovers they win going away. We actually won a close game. If this team could close out a game they would be in the thick of things in the league. 03-idea

That tends to happen when our "Dunkin Dawgs" act like matadors in the paint. It seemed like 80% of UTEP's shots were from right under the basket.

And the rest were 3-pointers. And UTEP still managed to shoot over 45% from behind the 3-point arch. Daaaayuuuum.......!

There are more MTSU fans than UAB at the MT-UAB women's game in Bham? Maybe they are coming to Mboro??

There will be a lot more fans at the away men's game than a home women's game.

It happens. Marshall, La Tech, and UTEP are all playing at a very high level right now. UAB and Middle are just a small margin ahead.

Wait...what?!? We crushed Middle like they forfeited and lost to you by three. We are in second place firmly, now and a game behind you. The other two CUSA teams that beat us, Charlotte and UTEP, had to put up 103 and 112 points, respectively, to win those games. I don't think there is any step ahead with MTSU and minimal with UAB.

HuH.... Marshall behind MTSU.

Marshall crushes MTSU by 16 and had a 22 point lead before pulling the starters with 3 to go. But yet MTSU is somewhat better. Maybe I should go take a class on logic to figure this one out.

I'm referring to UAB and Middle's entire body of work being better. I agree with you in that today, Marshall is a better team. Honestly before the game last night against UAB I thought Marshall and Middle were a push. By push I mean they'd beat each other at home. I don't think that anymore. It wouldn't shock me to see the Herd win in the Boro on Saturday. They cannot afford to go cold at any point there though. Middle is a team that you have to play dang near perfect to beat at home.
