The continue rotating between the north/northwest, more western, and southern locations. For better or worst we have some of the best large markets. Just choosing one to visit annually isn't really using that advantage.

This seems fair. Pretty much every city in the conference (Tulsa included) has a venue that's exceptional nearby.

I'd love to have the game back in Tulsa. We had alright attendance even when our team was mediocre and we were hosting. A junk ton of Memphis fans came. SMU & UH's programs were in the toilet at the time so they didn't really have much attendance though I think that would be different now (at least for Smoo). Tulane - Tulsa isn't a bad drive, and if we added WSU in the future there would be a million of those fans coming down as well.

I'm not saying we should have it every year, or even a majority of years, but once in a while would be nice. The BOK Center (19,199) is a great venue that's underutilized as far as athletics go. Hopefully we can get the tournament back in town.

UH was so in the toilet when Tulsa hosted they won 4 games in 4 days to win the auto-bid in 2010.

I was talking about 2012. We don't talk about the Doug Wojcik years anymore.
In 2012 Tulsa hosted, and Houston had a decent team... but not too many fans. Then again, that's Houston basketball for ya.

Everyone except ECU. There is no way we would be able to host both men and women nor is it easy to get to or hold that many visitors. If we got the rights but held it in say Raleigh then that could work as the ACC doesn't really touch Raleigh for their tournament and only smaller leagues are there from my memory.

IMO:

For now, the Women's Tourney should only take place in Connecticut or at South Florida. Perhaps Tulane down the road.

The Men's Tourney needs to be at places where passionate, loyal fans exist and where the host has a decent/good shot to make it to the Conference Championship Game. The tourney should not be held at a school that struggles almost every year in support and success. Vacation hot spots/tourist destinations are nice, but only viable if the host has a pulse.

Connecticut, Cincinnati, SMU, Temple, Memphis (once they fire Pastner) should be the only candidates until other members prove they belong within that group (via success/attendance).

I think it should be in Hartford or Memphis.

UCF is always going to suck at basketball.

The problem with Hartford is it's difficult for most of the conference to get to. It needs to rotate between places that fans can drive to.

The AAC is simply not a drive-able league so good luck with that one.

UCONN is the only truly elite brand in the conference.

The tourney should be in Hartford.

East Coast Bias.

If we are all in this shithole together can't we do the right thing and host the tournament in New Orleans. It's all Tulane's good for.

@shaydio 21m21 minutes ago
@NoEscalators It could be the permanent home for the tournament. Home court advantage would be negated by the fact that it's Tulane.

Seriously, New Orleans is basically designed for annual gatherings like this.

Memphis, Tulsa, Tulane, SMU, & Houston are all drive able between each other.

Cincy to Memphis is driveable as well. (My definition would be anything less than 8 hours is driveable)

The two most centralized cities would be Dallas + Philadelphia.

Based on your reply, I'm assuming you think Memphis is the bestl fit for the conference tourney?

I'd say Dallas, Memphis & Philly would probably be best. It kind of leaves out the Florida schools, but they haven't been competitive in quite some time. A rotation through these makes sense to me:

Hartford (Good arena, driveable from ECU + Temple, good attendance, good place for WBB)
Dallas (Good City, Driveable from UH, Memphis, Tulsa, Tulane, Flight Hub)
Philly (History + Food, Driveable from ECU + Cincy, "American" City)
Memphis (Good Arena + food, good attendance, Driveable for Tulsa, Tulane, SMU, UC)
Cincy (Good Attendance, Driveable for Temple + Memphis)
Tulsa (Good Arena, Driveable for SMU, UH, Memphis, Tulane)
Orlando (Disney World, Basically a neutral site)

When Memphis made it known they we're looking to hop to the Big East, C-USA took the tourney away from them. Just sayin...

Secondary market should be way cheaper

That's what I'm going to try to do. If I can get 2 tix with the food and drink package for $600, I'm in and will take a different person everyday.
