RE: How Norm Reilly Impacted My Life
touching and well written. I think of how snarky many of us have been about Sports Information and PR for UAB sports and I'm not sure we realized how completely their hands were tied

Excellent article by Tyler Cantrell. Mitch Mitchell also gets exposed a bit in this article. It had me chuckling to myself as I read Mitch assigned Tyler to cover football instead of basketball. Now we know why. Funny stuff!

We're looking forward to having Tyler on board with the blog.

RE: How Norm Reilly Impacted My Life
Norm Reilly was a wonderful man that I knew (slightly) during his days in Athens. He graduated from UGA and served in their SID office for 15 years. He was remembered today at Georgia's MBB game vs. Ole Miss.
UAB and UGA were both blessed by his talents and professionalism. Rest in peace.

RE: How Norm Reilly Impacted My Life
Nice article about a good guy. And Norm was the go to guy for anyone with cancer at the UABAD. He cared about their struggles as much, or more than his own.
The first time I had cancer, Norm hadn't had his cancer diagnosed yet. Even though my battle was easy, his concern was genuine and never failed to ask me how I felt or what the next step was. He made me feel like I had done something heroic, by getting to the "cancer free" stage.
The second time I was diagnosed with cancer, Norm had been through hell and back with his battle, yet he acted like his mission in life was to prepare me for, and support me in my battle. And each time I saw him, regardless of how his treatments were going, it was always about me. The man would look like he was on death's door, yet he would want to know what he could do for me.
The man was special and UAB lost one of it's strongest Blazers the day Norm died.
