I'm thinking linebacker or D-end.

RE: Tyler Heflin
i dont see anywhere that he actually signed w us...i think its a mistake on ESPN's part. His mom just tweets out his highlights like crazy, im sure she would have mentioned something if he signed a D1 scholly...

Who says he is on scholarship? Seems like a preferred walk on to me.

it very well could be true, but I dont trust ESPN when it comes to recruiting at all. A few years back they had that one kid that made up his NIU offer and commitment listed as a commit for us the entire year, even after signing day.
In this day and age its just usually pretty strange for a kid to sign somewhere (scholly or walk-on) with zero social media or online article to go with it. His highlight tape is pretty rough IMO, not D1, so that's why im more hesitant that he signed here

RE: Tyler Heflin
We signed defensive lineman Jack Heflin and he is not listed by ESPN. That might be where the confusion exists.

What does it matter?!?!? If he comes to NIU and is a stud, great. If he comes and sucks, oh well. At this point, what difference does it make.

I saw this when it came out. They clearly mixed up the common last name of Heflin.

Ha it makes a ton of difference! We only have so many spots available on team and a ton of kids that are vying for those walk on spots. They don't just take anybody. Every walk on we take is bc the coaches damn well believe he can play D1. We also put a ton of resources into those kids as well when it comes to academic support and attention from the coaches. We've brought in a lot of great walk ons over the years. Go watch the highlight tapes of the walk ons we have coming in this year and this Tyler Heflin kid and tell me if you notice a difference. There is a reason why Tyler Heflin the QB is unrated by basically every recruiting service and has 7 viewing on his 2016 highlight tape
Clearly they mixed up which Heflin signed w us, but I was just making the point. Preferred walk-ons spots are HUGE, especially for mid major programs.
