Why on God's green Earth would DJ Carton leave? That's ridiculous given his role and the season he had...

Didn't Carton miss a number of games during the year for personal "issues"?

Took time off at end of January to work on his mental health.

Interesting. P. Doc article about Brannen this week said the family was vacationing in Florida with Chris Mack and family. Two intense college basketball coaches couldn't help but talk business so you have to think this transfer's name came up over a Corona (a beer, not a virus).

I saw that. It was glossed over really quickly by Doc. Weird he didn't comment any further other than to say they were vacationing together. I never heard that they had a close connection before.

They are friends from way back. Maybe it will help us get Louisville on the schedule in the future.

I think Chris Mack is my least favorite Eggs coach by far and that saying something with Sean "Sleazy McGeezy" Miller. Anyways, idc who coach is friends with and if the friendship somehow brought the rivalry back that would be awesome!

With UC and Louisville, I think there has always been a bit of respect between both the teams and fans. Totally different than UC and XU.

Carton will stay in the BIG 10. Iowa State, Wisconsin or Nebraska would be my guess

I agree; Louisville has been our best historic, natural rival for football and basketball and we need to find a way to play again, at least on some periodic basis.

I understand the sentiments about Mack too but he had remarkable success across town and apparently he and Brannen go way back as both were local basketball players. Mick and Pitino seemed very close; Huggins held Tarkanian in high esteem. The coaching fraternity is a different world with relationships we might not otherwise expect as fans. And all the names above have proven to be pretty fine coaches, who like each of us, have flaws.

The inherent distaste for everything Xavier aside, Mack is an excellent strategic and tactical head coach and if Brannen is brushing shoulders with him and they're perhaps sharing ideas, that can only make UC hoops better. So I'm all for this.

Can't stand Mack, but no doubt the guy can coach and recruit with the best of 'em.
