Who's gloating? All I see is a bunch of fans happy we won somewhere we haven't won since Reagan was in office.

I have never a fan who is mad when their team wins. Doesn't matter who ODU beats, RRM & MB will find something wrong with the win.

And THIS is why every thread derails, not because of us discussing jones or the team in a positive or negative light, but because personal shots and baiting are allowed to continually go unchecked.

Unless you sing kumbaya with the team after every game, you are allowed to be baited to no end.

You are absolutely right about the baiting and it should stop. But the Jones detractors have said they are willing to give him another year before making a final decision on his coaching adequacy. Let's focus on the teams performance and not let every game thread turn into a Jones inquisition. Try to avoid the baits and the rest of us will try to steer the discussion back on topic. Personally I am on the fence with Jones but I have no interest in discussing his adequacy at this point in his ODU career.

I've been on record before and I'm going on the record again........

I'm absolutely 100% winning to give jones at least another year. He's earned it with our turn around thus far.

Sure, some results haven't gone out way this year, and I'm worried about what happens without Freeman next year, but he deserves at least another year to show what he can do with a full team (which barring more suspensions we should have next year).

That said, I still disagree with him not switching defenses from time to time, I think Trey Freeman's singular talent has masked a lot of bad offense and offensive sets and I'm not entirely sold yet that jones can consistently recruit top talent.

I think these are legit concerns that have not been alleviated but I am willing to give him another year to see what happens.

I have to agree with the bold text in Razor's post. No good reason not to have a couple of alternate defenses to throw out there for a couple of possessions during each game, such as when coming out of a time out or when the other team has scored in the half court several times in a row against your man-to-man. Duke did it against UNC this week and the TV announcers said that UNC looked puzzled about how to attack it since they had been playing against Duke's man-to-man up to that point.

As someone who coaches his son, yes, according to Stith it was a very good first half. I can't blame him for being biased, but he must have felt good with how Brandan played.
