I give it a 9. I last couple of seasons have dragged things out too much. I probably prefer House of Cards slightly.

The folks watching the show for the political machinations (and comparing it to House of Cards or Sopranos or whatever) are missing the point. Despite all the sex and violence, the entire story is a think piece. No one is going to "win" at the end. That's not at all what the point of the story ever was supposed to be - unless the producers change it, which would be just about the worst thing that could happen.

It would probably help the average viewer to know that GRRM was/is a conscientious objector.

Everyone I know is canceling the day season 7 ends and probably going to do a free month when season 8 finally rolls around. Terrible marketing idea by HBO, they are going to lose upwards of 18 mos of subscriptions in the meantime. No one is going to carry the intermittent period.

I know there won't be any substantial development on Bran/NK/The Wall until the later episodes of this upcoming season, but it is fun to speculate. If the show sticks to the "there is no hope" angle with the WW and the army of Wights, there is going to be an absolutely brutal sequence when they finally get through the wall

Been binge re-watching all 6 seasons the past few weeks to prepare for season 7...whew, it's been great, even better than the first few times I watched them. Rains of castamere, hardhome, battle of the bastards...the door, my god talk about hitting you right in the feels!! Really anxious to see what's in store for S7.

It's crazy how many characters were re-cast: the mountain, Dario, 3 eyed raven...

Sir Gregor was always going to be difficult to cast considering in the books he's 8 feet tall.

My wife and I did the same thing over the course of the last month or so. It's fun to pick up a LOT of small things along the way, plus it's an easier watch now that you know who everyone is from the start. There's so much foreshadowing that you don't see the first time through. And yeah, Rains of Castamere is played quit a bit at the first half of the show.

Definitely need to re watch some of the older episodes before the next season rolls around. I noticed some of the promotional pictures going around on Facebook today... getting excited!

The Ringer put out podcasts the dive into each episode. They've been releasing them one season at a time, I think they are up to season 3. It's called Binge Mode. Definitely worth a listen if podcasts are your thing.

Pretty good table-setter episode to start.

This episode clearly set the GoT record for most deaths recorded before the opening credits. Had me thinking flashback until about halfway through the speech, and then I realized...YES!

RE: OT: Game of Thrones Discussion - Potential Spoilers Warning
I thought the Frey "second feast" scene was exceptionally well-done. Was hoping to see a bit more trepidation from Bran about passing through the wall, but then again he may not know exactly what the Night King's mark on his arm entails. Got our vivid gore for the episode at the Citadel. The Euron/Cersei exchange was entertaining, because who doesn't love another hands joke. Euron's acknowledgement of Zombie Mountain was a bit intriguing, since it appeared to be more of a "I know what you are" and not the typical "oh snap, huge guy defending the queen". With all the places Euron has been and the things he has likely seen, I have no doubt that Zombie Mountain is not the scariest thing he has encountered.

Oh, and Ed Sheeran. Didn't see that coming.

That whole scene was a complete change of pace from the rest of the episode. Glad that they wrote Maisie an Arya scene where she could actually smile.

It's just a story and nobody knows what's going to happen in the end since the final books have not been completed--and given the current rate of progress on the novels along with the age/health of the author--there may never be an ending by the original author. The HBO series has already passed the source material and its producers have stated that they are, at this point, going to tell thier own story with a 2 year time table. I think the point that there really aren't many (if any) "winners" has already been made pretty clear regardless of how the HBO series ends.

Ed Sheeran seemed a bit unnecessary. However I thoroughly enjoyed that the actor telling Sam not to go in the restricted section of the library was the same actor who told Harry Potter not to go in the restricted section of the library.

RE: OT: Game of Thrones Discussion - Potential Spoilers Warning
This ep. def. did not disappoint!

-I knew it was an Arya/face-changer when they first showed Frey. I immediately thought "yes, she's about to eff some sh!t up!"

-The white march in the beginning ruled...then when it showed some giant wights I just about lost my sh!t

-They need to go ahead and GTFOuttta here w/ that ed sheeran stuff. He must've known someone to hook him up w/ that cameo...I mean do ed sheeran fans even watch GOT?

-Sam's pots/books/eating montage was freakin' awesome, great directing on that!

-Lyanna Mormant sure does know how to put a bunch of bearded 60 year old men in their place!

-The hound finally has bought in w/ the brotherhood w/o banners....interesting.

-Even thought it didn't start this ep., everyone knew Euron would team up w/ Cersei

-Dragonstone....Dany's homecoming was epic. Sam needs to go ahead and get Jon on speed dial about that mountain of dragon glass.

About Ed Sheeran: Maisie Williams (Arya) is a huge fan of him.

I loved the Sam scene with the pots. Also Lyanna Mormont killin' it as usual. And Dragonstone... I can't wait to see it brought back to life by Dany!
