A good look at what they've had to do to promote themselves, and how much it's about getting other university presidents to see the school as a peer.

RE: Inside UC's bid to join the Big 12
In a splashy brochure dated November 2014, UC shows how it compares to the Big 12 schools in 10 categories – including annual giving, National Merit Scholars, total research expenditures, enrollment and endowment assets. Cincinnati would rank in the conference’s top 5 in each category listed, except the U.S. News & World Report rankings, which would put UC seventh.

We are not even in the ballpark any category. Let us move on from this thought.

What is "this thought"? Most mention moving conferences (other than MD) is to go to the AAC.

What is "this thought"? Only mention of moving conferences (other than MD) is to go to the AAC.

And the AAC is less a private club trying to only let the right sorts in and more an island of misfit toys. Much lower bar.

I like that thought and would hope that is the plan. I think if a spot opens though UMass will be a favorite to backfill.

Call me crazy, but Wichita St could be a dark horse spot... that or Old Dominion.

Marshall is hot garbage without NQs so no to them, and So Miss could be tempting or Buffalo even
