He is a load and we don't have an answer. Hard to stomach a FR schooling our upperclass big men

The injuries have just taken the steam out of this season. The rest of the team has not responded.

Didn't get to watch this one but based on the box score it seems pretty obvious what did us in. Turnovers and letting EMU get offensive boards. They had roughly 15 more possessions where they got a shot attempt off than we did. That's insane.

I'd say this one has me convinced that we're pretty much done. EMU isn't very good. I only see two maybe three more games on our schedule that I expect us to even be in.

Whatever the case I hope that nobody plans to ride the injury excuse train into the sunset

The good news is this shines light on what we need to focus our recruiting efforts on...3 point shooters! It's obvious the game has evolved. We have true PG's, a big man...let's get some guards in here and turn this thing around next year. I was hoping to get to a postseason game. How does that normally work? Do you have to pretty much win 20 games to get into the CIT? We sure as hell aren't winning the MAC with no 3 point shooters.

Injuries hurt us but they also exposed as very thin. A team with enough talent being recruited would not even have bothered bringing Pollard and Cancerin. We got caught losing three guards in one year and tried to patchwork things together and the injuries ruined the weak plan we had. I'm afraid we might have to try the same thing next year with our guards AND bigs.

Hate to say this because I love KSU, but I just do not like this team. Some senior should at least look like a all conference player but no one is even close. Hall is our offense but he is a negative as a passer. The worst indicator for me is that no one and in particular Hall, makes their teammates better. Ortiz really gets me going as he has size, athleticism and experience and still does not know how to keep his man in front of him or on his hip in order to rebound. Coach has a record of player development but not with this group. Sorry to be so down but I watched this game and just got sick. I am beginning to think that a team can not win in todays game without long range shooters and we have none. Not sure that we have recruits that can solve the problem. We need 2 Dev Manleys.

Ortiz is another perfect example of a player who should have been redshirted.

I do not believe that Ortiz should have been redshirted. He has reached his ceiling and that is the problem. His recruitment should have been replaced with a Justin Greene type or better yet, Toledos Booth or EMUs Thompson. OK say that is stating the obvious but a few years ago, our recruiting was superior. The MAC had many mediocre to terrible coaches. Now, other programs have wised up and hired better coaches. We have a good coach but if he wants to compete for championships, the recruiting effort must improve.

I'm at least hopeful with this freshman class and next year's. Walker and Avery are playing at a good freshman level; I'm hopeful for Alonzo Walker, maybe Hurley was a miss. I'm also hopeful with Devon Andrews. Andrews and A-Walker (and maybe Hurley) will have 4 years left.

Yavari Hall next year (though he didn't sign a LOI yet) is highly rated, Mitch Peterson and Danny Pippen have good size.

Last year was weird, we just had Raasean coming in as a freshman; the year before Marquis Lawrence was the only real freshman recruit, and I believe he really was an afterthought, signing in June.

So I think the trend may be upward.

What if I would've told you walking out of Rupp Arena in 2002 that we would only go back to the NCAA Tournament two times in the next 15 years? Pretty crazy.

Yeah - and if we don't get back soon , we'll lose the "if you come here, you could go to the NCAA tournament" recruiting vibe

Yeah, I'm with you. I think we're recruiting fine. J. Walker looks like he could be a special player when he's done. I like Avery too. He clearly would've benefited from a redshirt season but I think he can become a solid MAC PG.

I saw Andrews play a few times in HS and I'm incredibly excited to see what he can do in the MAC. I saw him standing next to Justin Greene during a timeout against NIU and they were legitimately the same height. He was noticeably taller than Hurley and A. Walker. He was wearing some boots so that probably added a little bit but it definitely looked like he grew a little bit since his Sr. year of HS.

I also got to see Yavari Hall play once as a Jr. against Andrews. He looks like a nice well rounded guard that should be successful in the MAC. Haven't seen him play this year but it seems like he shot up the recruit rankings in the off season.

I'm cautiously optimistic about Danny Pippen. I'm guessing he'll take some time to realize his potential but it seems like he's got good size and looks to be rebounding and blocking at a high level, albeit in HS.

Haven't seen Peterson play but it sounds like he can shoot the three, so we need that.

And let's not forget about B.J Duling. Assuming he stays committed he could be a big time MAC player.

One pipedream, I've seen us linked to Naz Bohannon, a Jr. from Andrews' team Lorain. I would be very surprised if we were able to get him. He's probably going to wind up on a Big 10 football team or at a school like MIT but who knows, maybe he'll watch Will Smith's new movie, decide to give up football, and want to play with his old teammate close to home. He's got a heck of a motor.

My only complaint with our recruiting is I would like it if we were able to have one more post player at all times. It seems like we haven't been able to redshirt a post player in a long time and, to me, those are the guys that do the least in their freshman seasons. It would've been great to have an extra year from Greene or Spicer and I wouldn't be surprised if we're saying the same thing about Davis when he's done. It's strange, the only post players we've redshirted in recent memory are Manns and Jones both from JUCO.

Thanks for the updates - I agree on the desire to get a solid - and I mean a player with some strength in the post. Even someone raw and poorly recruited - we managed to get some valuable minutes form raw recruits liek Edwards and Manns - we sure needed someone to stop EMUs kid and will need it against Akron's kid

I have seen Peterson 3 times. He will be a real solid player. He's savvy with the ball. Strong big hands. Nice stroke. A potential Manley replacement
