OT: Arkansas State campus on lockdown...again
Per the ASU twitter feed, 2-3 males with weapons reported on campus.

Apparently a few students filming a project for class. Went with the robbery/shooting motiff, brought ski masks, all black clothing, plastic pistols...the works.

Probably not the most advisable thing to do, but since when have college students made smart decisions with regularity?

Not exactly correct.
They were dressed as ninjas but they were also in compliance with school's rules for filming student projects on campus, no real or fake firearms.
My daughter is friends with the kids involved and but for getting ready to leave for a study abroad program, she would have been with them.

The "weapon" were tripods and cameras.

The funny part of it, they got the text alert and saw kids running for the buildings so THEY ran too to get away from the threat not knowing they WERE the threat. Since they were sheltering in a nearby dorm, the police had a terrible time ever finding them and were surprised that they were the cause of the alarm that had scared them.

It speaks volumes to me that the Baby Boomers have trained successive generations to run and hide and wait for government authorities to provide safety and/or further instructions.

I doubt I'll live long enough to see what comes after the collapse of the American Experiment, but the process of collapse mirrors that of other great empires including the Greeks, Romans, and British. These empires tore themselves apart.

I know right, if only someone with a gun had went up and shot those kids. Thanks Obama...

You take some bubblegum, a rubber band, a paper clip, and some chalk dust, then you Macguyver something up to fight those men!

To ensure safety, you take some shoelaces, more bubblegum, 4 pages of LEGAL paper (not letter, that's just silly) and you fashion a bullet proof vest.

Don't they teach you guys in Arkansas ANYTHING?

Thanks for proving my point. Ignorance is so extreme it's become arrogance.

It is extremely humorous to me that some random red neck armed is a Jack Bauer type.

RE: OT: Arkansas State campus on lockdown...again
I've never felt the need for a firearm to protect myself. I've found them useful for shooting ducks, quail, squirrels, turtles and old cans and paper targets. If I lived in a place where I believed I needed to be prepared to use deadly force every time I left the house, I think I'd look for a better place to live and work.

To me it is odd that if I were born a year or so later that I would have to take a class to use a firearm safely in order to be permitted to kill a duck or a squirrel but all I need to be cleared to kill a human is the money for the firearm and a clean history.

My school handbook provided that firearms had to kept in a vehicle. School shooting weren't a thing but then again that was before we became "fiscally responsible" as a country and saved money by closing down long-term care facilities for the mentally ill and cut back on government provided mental health treatment.
