By who? I swear some fans have selective memory. Last year I recall all the talking heads at various sports networks praising how good the league was top to bottom in football etc.. Don't recall one saying it was sub par but I guess you saw something different then the rest of us.
If Houston does on to win a national championship next year and the league boasts championships in both revenue sports who is going to be looking down on the league. None of the other G5's could sniff that type of success.
That would assume that a non P5 would be allowed into the playoffs. What do you think the chances of that ever happening are? Slim and none.
Houston will start the season ranked in the top 10 and will also play Oklahoma....could be ranked in top 5 a couple weeks into season, so I would think the chances are greater than "none".
The way a G5 is going to do it is win big in back to back years. Year one gets them into spotlight, and year 2 vaults them into playoff discussion (if they run table).
Problem with that is, who else will Houston play after Oklahoma? The SEC is a shoe in for one spot, so is the Big 10, most likely the Big 12/Pac 12, and the ACC because they'll be playing ranked teams for the rest of the season. It would take the top 10 P5 teams literally crumbling for there to even be a chance. After that game, P5 teams with wins over other ranked P5 teams will just start jumping Houston.
We would need to run the table and Louisville and Oklahoma would have to do very well. The perfect storm scenario would have them winning their conferences while we went 13-0. Obviously, a ton of things would have to fall just right for any G5 to get in.

It's OK, there Panic... If you call it a "collectible" then people are more OK with your lightsaber.

I nerd out hard. Im cool with it.
My kid is 7 and we've got a ton of star wars legos over the past three years. I started buying extra ones for me and storing the boxes in my office.
I also follow a band around the country that sings songs about magical far away places called Gamehendge so there is that....

The best part of our schedule is we open with OU and our season pretty much ends with Louisville. Assuming Louisville has a good year its a perfect scenario.

If UConn were to leave, I'd miss them and their production. Cincinnati has just been a character actor in the AAC. I'm not sure where the bravado comes in.
Wow a whole 2 years without a NY6 bowl win or basketball title!
LOL what a standard
I will admit not having a NY6 bowl win (or even appearance) is below where I thought we would be in football (now I realize with CTT at the helm, we won't get there).
But to rip on a school because they haven't won a national title in hoops in the past two or three years is insane lol.
UCONN won one in the AAC, with a Big East team.
I don't see any AAC teams winning any national titles in hoops now. Heck, instead of national titles the teams in this conference need to just focus on making the big dance, period. WE are a two bid league right now...that is mid major folks. You can say whatever you want, but two bid league is mid major. We are looking up at conferences like the A10 right now in that regard.
It's not ripping UC to say you've been a supporting cast member to this point.
It's just fact based on what UC has done, relative to other members.
Newsflash: UCONN's title was in 2014. I understand your wanting to win the dance every year, but if you want to set that bar I wouldn't expect Cincinnati to be losing to ECU and Tulane.
I will play. UCF was the star in season one, but is not even a stage presence now. Houston was the star in season 3 of the series, but pretty inconsequential until that season. UConn was a star in the first season, but has disappeared. Cincinnati has had the third most camera time in football and basketball in every season although never having the camera exclusively devoted to them. In the second football season, they shared in top billing with two others. In football and basketball in the aggregate, no AAC team is even close to Cincinnati's consistent stage time. Memphis would probably be number two.
Cincy's problem is it is buried in B1G territory with the SEC nearby as well. USF's problem is that we are buried in UF/FSU territory. It's going to be a tough sell for both of us on that score, though the upside potential for both in terms of TV and recruiting is obvious too.
