It's how the money filters through the entity that matters.
As money pours into a corporation the corporation pays a corporate tax rate and then as money is paid out to shareholder they all pay money. That's called double taxation.
For an LLC which has not elected to be taxed as a corporation money pours into the company and is not taxed at all. When it passes through to members it is taxed on their own income tax returns. It is not taxed twice.
The goal is to prevent double taxation.
That's before you get into the ins and outs of how the IRS tallies up what is taxable, what is deductible, what forms must be filed out, and so forth and so on.
