Pastner today on last night's 98-90 loss at Houston: "When I went back and watched film of the game, I was not happy w/ our defense at all."

Would be great if he noticed these things during games.
I don't get why people keep saying things like this. He's the same sorry coach with the same problems he's had his entire time here. He hasn't checked out; he's just a bad coach.
I don't know. Maybe that's true, maybe not. While not a "sunshine pumper," I'll admit that I've tried to give the benefit of the doubt, and that I support him because I want things to work out with Josh on the bench. But I am also a realist. There are things I see that I don't understand--substitutions, for example. After all this time we still don't really have a consistent rotation. Guys sit all year, then start. Guys start, then sit. It seems very whimsical, and it's difficult for a team to gather any momentum when/if the look is always changing.
Checked out? Honestly, part of me believes that is true. He has acted differently this year; in fact, you can boil it down further to the last month or so. And really, a big part of me says I wouldn't blame him if he has. He has been brutally criticized over his tenure--some of which has been fair, a lot of it has not--and I'm not sure that any of us could handle things the way he has. None of us will ever have to deal with anything close to what he's seen. That's just a fact, in my opinion.
The clock definitely seems to be ticking on his time at Memphis, and if that time comes soon, I'll be sad to see him leave, even if it is probably best for both parties at this point.

Substitution rationale is basically throwing sh@T at the wall and see what sticks. He coaches by feel not skill.....yes after 7 years....

It's clear he's almost daring us to fire him at this point.
If that is what you got from the interview then there are some qualify mental health facilities in the area.
They hit shots they will never hit again in another game this season. Pollard was unconscious all night. Was in a trap from Goodwyn and Lawson with shot clock running out and threw it up off the backboard and it went in. They shot 70% in second half on mainly jump shots.

You have an excuse for every single loss without fail. And it never once involves the guy calling the shots.

Our defense was great.
Our energy level was outstanding.
My coaching is always faultless.
The other team was just from outer space tonight.
Now, we've just got to get ready for the next deja vu, er, opponent.
Sounds like our coach is burnt out and defeated. It would have been nice to see him lose his mind and get a technical foul after some of those phantom calls Houston received. Would have been interesting to see the players reaction.

It's almost one a night. And has been that way for as long as I can remember. It was the same under Cal.
