He was one of those guys who was a great position coach or a dc. but thanks to eloss he no longer holds the spot as worst head coach we ever had.

FootballScoop, USM beat writer, and MULTIPLE legit sources were all reporting this when the thread was made.

Carmody is bad now? He played some really tough schedules and won some big games. I'm sure we've had worse HCs, and not just HWSNBN. Curley Hallman pops to mind, for one.

curley had brett....we were fortunate to lose that elder....

carmody defined toughness....and he was....me and his youngest tossed a few punches back in the day too...

in no way was Jim a poor coach during that era....he created a new form of pride that we all still cling onto to this day....

and I do agree with GS about him as a positional coach as his main strength

as much as i disliked certain things about JC, I have to give props and pay homage to his faith in training.....he's one tough sum biatch....

IF he were good he would not have been fired. Other than Bama in 82 with Reggie Collier i see no other big wins. Alot of the big names these days were winnable games back then.

Carmody was 4-2 against MSU and 2-1 against OM. Most importantly he beat OM the last two years they would play us. Sorry, but I haven't forgotten those wins.

He was UK's scapegoat this past season...Still hard to believe UK fans actually think they have a football program that can win more then 5 games a season and if it wasn't for this guy they would have won 8....Amazes me the fans here on the football side..

For those touting his tenure at WVU, remember that Holgorsen was/is the play caller. That is known.

Dawson has had one year of experience as a true OC in D1 and it was this past year Of course, it was a difficult position....so I'm really not sure what to make of the hire. I definitely can't get excited about an OC who was just fired after one year.

In fairness, he was very good as an OC at lower levels. And in terms of offensive style, there will be little transition required.
