You realize that NRG stadium is closer to Rice's campus than some school's on campus stadiums are to the center of their campuses?

Let's face it, this is 2 games at Texas and another what will look like a home game on tv for Texas. And Rice will go 0-3. Bad scheduling IMO. I'm never for scheduling automatic losses.

Rice fans won't show up to NRG. They don't show up to their own stadium either.

I hope I never fall to the point where I believe that scheduling the Longhorns is bad scheduling. The goal is to play them and to win.

Is scheduling Stanford bad? We did anyway.
Is scheduling Baylor bad? We did itanyway.
Is scheduling Texas A&M bad? We did it anyway.
Is scheduling USC bad? We did it anyway.
Is scheduling Oklahoma State bad? We did it anyway.
Is scheduling LSU bad? We did it anyway.
Is scheduling Texas bad? Were doing it anyway.

Well, Rice is supposedly getting $6 million for the 3 games. And while it is easy to say that Rice will be an underdog, Rice beat UT in 1994 and played them close in 1997. And but for turnovers, outplayed them in 2015. I'm more interested in Rice not playing Baylor anytime in the near future, as they don't pay Rice the same money and kick the crud out of us worse than UT.

No matter the venue, Longhorn fans will outnumber Rice fans, just from the disparity between the enrollments and alumni numbers. It really doesn't hurt us competitively to play at NRG rather than Rice Stadium. Two thirds of HFA is that one team travels, the other doesn't, and that won't change.

I say take their money and beat their asses.

Should be interesting to see the turnout.

Rice played Texas at Reliant in 2003 and 2006. Both years, it was the 3rd game of the season. Attendance was 46K and 40K.

In 2010, with Texas coming off a national title game appearance, Rice and Texas played the season opener at Reliant. It sold out at 71K.

The 2019 game will be the third game of the year for UT. Second (so far) for Rice.
