Rewards for the 86 students
My girlfriend got an email today from Morris White for being one of the 86. She's getting invited to sit at the Yordon Terrace for the Huskie Bowl, 2 free season tickets for the year after she graduates, and $100 towards her tuition this semester.

RE: Rewards for the 86 students
I would say that is a very fair compromise for the 86 students.

RE: Rewards for the 86 students
I am going to stop donating, supporting NIU!

It is this damn entitlement generation, gimme this and that I deserve for nothing and the university is giving them NIUs $ my money in hard times for the State! Redistribution, well of something I am sure. IT'S SOCIALISM! Well, I think it is. Although I probably couldn't really define capitalism. Anyways, who runs NIU , Bernie Sanders! Read the fine print next time. Screw them. This shouldn't be an entitlement, although I don't think I could accurately desribe that either.Hell, give everyone who went to the game them a cookie, a trophy for participation why don't you!

PS:Political antics mocking the few aside, in reality, nice job and I commend whomever came up with this. 04-cheers

And if anyone is against this act..... 03-nutkick04-chairshot

That sounds really good. Nice job in salvaging a messed up situation. And the season tickets will keep them engaged post-graduation which is important. They may want to think about offering those to more graduates actually.

I think they should have given free tuition to all 86 for the remainder of their time at NIU. I also think they should give free hot dogs and beer to season ticket holders for the rest of their lives. And, those season ticket holders who have sacrificed to buy premium seating should be given a $100 VCB gift card at every game they attend. It's only fair!!

Love the free season tickets idea, would be cool to use something like a season ticket giveaway to graduates to entice them to keep coming back to NIU.

Very nice recovery, more than enough to make those students happy.

I know one of the 86 and he hasn't received a thing. Can someone confirm that this is real. If so, who do you think he should contact?

Sounds like a terrorist group or casualties in a disaster. Or similar to "Remember the 96" for Liverpool.

Did he recieve an email? It was sent to the students email account from Morris White Assistant AD/Marketing & Game Experience. If you are to contact someone, try him. I've been thinking of emailing him, because I do have some questions about how the process will work with these awards. I'm guessing to be included in the 86, you had to have your student ID scanned upon entering the stadium for all 6 games. At first I thought the 86 were counted from the red and black app. However, myself apparently one of the 86 did not check-in at all 6 games. I did attended all 6 games and the Mac championship, even though I know the Mac championship was not part of this. There were two games I forgot to check-in with the app, and by the time I remembered late in the second quarter the event was no longer available to check-in. This tells me that the athletic department numbers are pretty accurate towards student attendance, because the only way they would know I went to all 6 games was the fact I used my student ID to enter the game.

The email reads as follows,
"Good Morning!

You are receiving this email because of your support and dedication during the 2015 home football season. On behalf of NIU Athletics, thank you for attending all six games! Although the goal to average 6,000 students per game was not met, we appreciate the school spirit you displayed and would like to reward you and each of the other students who were at every game this fall.

We would like to personally invite you to the spring football game (Huskie Bowl) scheduled to be held on Friday, April 22 in Huskie Stadium (time TBD). As our special guest, you’ll watch the game from the Yordon Terrace, our premium area in the north end zone, while enjoying food provided by Athletics! Secondly, we want to offer you two (2) free football season tickets for the season immediately following your graduation from NIU! Lastly, NIU Athletics will provide $100.00 towards your tuition bill for this semester!"

Good that the marketing people realized what a mess was created & took the high road. Glad to see this.
