Baseball 2016
It looks like the team will be starting the season with a very tough 3 game tournament. First game against the reigning CWS winner Virginia, followed by Old Dominion and ending with NC State. All 3 have received preseason top 35 votes with Virginia at #8 and NCSU at #20. Kent did not receive any votes in the poll.

I am planning on making the trip down to see at least the Virginia game and possibly the ODU game. The softball team is also playing in a tournament in SC so I'm going to swing by there to catch one of their games on the way back to Ohio. Anyone else making the trip?

I am ready for this season to start and for the warm weather to return.

RE: Baseball 2016
Where do you all think Kent should be ranked to start this season out of 301 teams?
We have our injured players back.
We have great weekend pitching (3 above average pitchers from what I've been reading).
Apparently, this incoming class was better than Ohio State's and up there with the best in Ohio.
I just feel like we aren't getting much love (outside of MAC projections). Are we worse than I think we are? Are we going to surprise people? I feel we could be top 45 to start this year. I'm really excited to see how this C out of Wisconsin works out.
Go Flashes! Make a CWS run! Oh, and the Akron transfers...

RE: Baseball 2016
I'm excited for this year the team seemed to start clicking towards the end of last season, with the exception of the tournament. The game I have highlighted is the rematch from last year with OSU. After the crap they pulled last year calling the game early after being beat down. This year the game is in Kent so hopefully no more shenanigans happen. Knock them off and watch the recruits keep flowing in.

I was there and was NOT happy! I did love the 3 bombs back to back to back...our fans were blowing theirs away!

We are a little more than 24 hours away from first pitch tomorrow. After thinking about the potential for the game I realized that this is the first full season of having the indoor practice facility. So we may not see the normal rust from years past seeing how they only have to share the facility with one other team instead of all the teams.

Rough weekend. Lost all three. Decent competition and first weekend outside along with inconsistent hitting and poor relief work led to three two-run losses.

The bullpen was awful. Frustrating how we always seem to start slow. I know a lot of folks would reference the Midwest/outdoor practice aspect and this being the first full year with the Dave Edmonds practice facility.....I just would have liked to have seen a win this weekend.

I've looked up, down, left, right, 45 degrees NW, NE, SW, SE...I can't find what he did wrong. Academics?

There was something about him getting suspended late last year as well. What a shame because we would have returned a full weekend rotation and everyone had a sub 3 ERA (or very close to it), with Lauer sub 2. Whatever the situation is, I hope it doesn't screw us over come tournament time.

RE: Baseball 2016
Even the first three games the team looked better than in the past. We have to remember that they lost by two runs to two top ten teams and almost beating the defending national champions in a crazy 9th inning. Even ODU was a top 50 team to start the season.
