If true, then I think you have to start the rebuild. I was all for letting the season play out and making whatever run you could make, but without Gasol we need to look to the future.

Agreed time to make some changes, and in order to get some value i would send Conley and Randolph in a package deal if possible in order to get someone a a shot at a High Lottery pick in a good draft this year....But i would def Send Conley or Randolph and see what we could get....Time to Build it back up....No Limits...The World Is Ours Memphis...

Example 1 on why you're a message board gm, not an NBA gm.

RE: M Gasol sidelined indefinitely with broken foot
YEAR --------GAMES PLAYED

2008–09. ------- 82
2009–10 ------- 69
2010–11 -------- 81
2011–12 -------- 65
2012–13 -------- 80
2013–14 -------- 59
2014–15 -------- 81
2015-16 --------- 52*

Marc misses a quarter of the regular season every other year, all following years in which he played in virtually all regular season games.

The percentage of regular season games he has missed on an every other year basis has skyrocketed - 16%, 21%, 28%, and now 37% ...

He'll be close to 32 years old when the season starts next year, coming off a broken foot. He is scheduled to make $21.1M next year and is a guy who averages just 17 & 7 in his BEST years (the last 2). During this 5 year run, he's averaged just 15 & 8...

Out of all NBA centers, he's currently ranked 9th in scoring, T-23rd in rebounding, and 13th in blocks. (21st in double-doubles) - granted he's 1st in assist among centers, but the NBA is going toward the athletic, rim-running & protecting center...not the skilled, point-center.

I love Marc, I respect the heck out of his commitment, but it may be time to move him...& if ya move him, ya blow the whole thing up. If ya blow the whole thing up, that includes the GM - can't build through the draft (picks you get from Marc & Mike mostly) with the same people responsible for past draft busts...

Bad news for the Grizz. If we miss the playoffs, we lose our draft pick next year. Realistically, we need to make the playoffs

Might be better to lose our pick this year instead of letting the protection slide and losing a top 5 pick in 2019. We cannot kick the can down the road, that's how you lose a top 5 pick in a draft filled with superstars (see 2003 where the Grizz pick was only #1 protected).

Matt Moore, NBA guy, on Caulkins show today said he spoke with vegas insiders and stated that even without Gasol, Grizzlies are a 98% certainty of making the playoffs this year.

Grizzlies have 30 games left. They could win 20 of those games. Even if they only win half of them they finish 45-37 or 8 games over .500. Right now the 8th place team is at .500. The question is if you finish in 7th or 8th you probably have 0 chance of getting out of the first round.

Looking at that schedule I can see us going 13-17 easily. Not sure why you have @Boston, @Bucks, @Magic and @Nuggets penciled in as wins. We might not even be favored in those games. 43-39 might not be enough to make it

Yeah, we will probably lose at Boston. Bucks are 21-32, Orlando is 23-28 and Denver is 21-32 so we should win 3 of 4. Hopefully Brandan Wright comes back healthy after the break and helps us out a bit. 4 games over would get us in right now.

We probably weren't getting out of the first round anyway, based on our play so far.

Not entirely true. The pick is protected 1-5 and 15-30.

I would rather get it out of the way now and give up the pick this year

This injury is not good. That foot will nag him the rest of his career. I'm extremely discouraged. Have no idea where the grizz go from here. The lottery abyss will kill this franchise in today's current market.
