I guess it's true. I saw the score on ESPN this morning and thought I was still asleep. They actually did win - and on the road and not against BG (which has come to be an expected win)

You sound disappointed. Jeez get excited. This team is fun to watch, no they're going to the Final Four, but they play hard.

RE: MBB: Toledo at Kent State game thread
What is sad about Boothe is that he did not redshirt. If the team at the time had another center, he could have taken a year to get in physical shape. The only center at the time was a walk on (Wonnell) so Boothe became the starter at center from day one.

Now, however, we are doing the right thing with Knapke. He is taking a year to build up his body and is learning from Boothe. My understanding is that Knapke is actually a good shooter and can make 3 pointers. We will see how well he takes over the center position next year. I believe the team with Knapke and Steve Taylor will be a lot better next year, even without Boothe. Navigato and Sanford will have a year in the weight room to build up their strength. Steve Taylor is just awesome physically but we will see how good a basketball player he is.

I don't think this one game is going to change many people's perceptions about the program. If I recall correctly, almost everyone on that thread (including me) said that TK had done enough resurrecting this program that he had earned a few down years before anyone should talk about getting rid of him. Maybe one person said he should be fired.

On the other hand, if yesterday's game made you satisfied to have a .500 team, then I'm not with you on that.

Your first thought after a win is to try to ridicule people who don't even exist. I agree with a previous response to your post: just enjoy the win for a few hours and don't try to start a pissing match as soon as the horn sounds.

At least he's consistent. He does it both for football and basketball.

03-lmfao I'm not the one who over-exaggerates losses and acts like the season is over, and downplays wins acting like it was a fluke.

That was coming from the guy who goes to, maybe, 1 game a year and admits that he doesn't keep up much with MBB, yet tries to talk about how bad we are.

In spite of the losses, the team is still interesting to watch because you can see the potential for the future. I really kind of thought they might drop this one on the road but decided to watch anyway. Even though the shots were not falling in the 1st half, they didn't let it get to them. It's great having multiple guys who can hit 3's, young guys included.

We're not the only ones who have been streaky, though. Northern, who beat us twice, has now dropped 4 straight, 3 on the road. They go to Kent next.

true, true and true.. We are bad - most of the time. I also live 95 miles away, so the only games I watch are on ESPN3. The last game I went to was against Oakland a year ago. Pretty tough to change my mind after that. I'm more surprised when the team plays well than I am when they play poorly. It's the lack of consistency that disappoints me.

BTW - I don't try to talk about how bad we are, I absolutely do talk about how bad we are. Then I get surprised. Then I have hope. Then it gets crushed again. Then I talk about how bad we are again...

I've said this before, but I will say it again: That Oakland game last season is not indicative of the Toledo program under Coach K. They played a horrible game that day. It happens. By judging the team based on that one game, you missed a lot of great moments with Juice Brown, JD Weatherspoon and Justin Drummond.

It is hard to change someones mind after one game... I think Akron is trash because we creamed em at Savage... They are 8-2 in the league.
