BGSU and Navy take big steps back...plus we get Houston, Temple, and USF at home...I like that schedule, I'm hoping for 6-7 wins, and a Bowl.
Say what?
Most predictions had Memphis finishing 3rd in the division behind Houston and Navy and Temple was generally picked 2nd behind Cinci.
BG was a big "trap game" for UTk and folks knew they were a seasoned MAC team that was predicted to win its division.
True, though, that BGSU and Navy should be more down this year.
Houston should be superb--a real chance at a playoff game. They play OU the first game of the year.
Memphis should come out 3-1 in OOC play. And should win 4 of 5 vs the group of (SMU, Tulsa, USF, Tulane, and Temple) and 1 of 3 versus Cinci, Houston, and Navy.
That would be 8 wins.
when was the last time Navy won 11 games?
Haven't, but they won 10 games as recently as 2004 and 2009 and have won nine games two other times in the last 10 seasons. Their median win total in the past 10 years is 8.5.
(02-08-2016 12:27 PM)UofMemphis Wrote: when was the last time Houston won 13?
Houston won 13 games in 2011 and won 10 two other times in the last 10 seasons (2006 and 2009).

Not very often, but they won 9, 8, and 9 as recently as 2009-2011

Well, in the previous three years, BGSU won 8, 10, and 8, so there's that.
I didn't say they had never done it...I said how often, and the answer (which you so kindly showed) is not very often...so yes, they all over performed at once, and I'm simply saying I expect a few (including us) to come back to reality a little...moreover, we get several of the more difficult teams at home, which is nice.
Same could be said for us.
How many times have we won 9 games in back-to-back seasons?

That was my thought too.
We played those guys every year when they were good. Now that they have had a drop off we don't play them. Tough break for us, now we get Temple and Navy...sheezz.
You can bet our first game vs ECU will be there. Just glad we aren't playing at Temple again this year.
I think the schedule is in our favor if we are any good at all.

Would Rather Keep Playing Temple And Navy and USF from the east better teams and More Eyes on our program for Branding and visibility.....Better for Recruiting to be seen in Philly/ Maryland-Dc area and Tampa and South Florida area to recruits...Still wish Big 12 would go 14 with Cincy and Memphis who are locks and then if they go Uconn and South Florida would be great....No Limits...The World Is Ours Memphis...

RE: Tiger Football Schedule - 2016 - early look
We get an auto-W vs. an FCS team to start the season, then..
A) Teams that will be about the same: @Ole Miss, Houston, USF, @Cincy
B) Teams that will be better: Kansas, Tulsa, @SMU, @Tulane
C) Teams that will be worse: @Navy, Bowling Green, Temple
That being said...
A) 1-3
B) 2-2
C) 3-0
7-5 would be my prediction. I could see 6-6 or 8-4 as well. I'd put the over/under at 7...

If they do it will be a road game. That's probably the SHC date
agree
MEMPHIS will almost certainly REQUEST a road conference game for September 10. That is wa-a-a-y too soon for a bye week.
If you check the other schedules of the AAC teams the TIGERS are scheduled to travel to in 2016, there is only ONE with that date open and their OOC schedule already set.
Navy.
I think MEMPHIS will travel to Annapolis on September 10 to play the Middies.

I've been thinking that going to see Memphis vs Navy at Annapolis would be a great road game to attend. Putting that game in September would be just about perfect!

Didn't Temple lose a lot also?
I don't think we lose anything on offense.
I think we improve on defense.
7-9 wins p,us bowl.

Cincy will not be as good as last year. They lost a ton on both sides of the ball. I believe their top five WRs were all seniors.

RE: Tiger Football Schedule - 2016 - early look
There's no conspiracy in the ECU/UCF thing. The conference was realigned for divisions beginning in 2015. The three non-divisional opponents were Temple, Cincinnati, and South Florida. 2016 alternates home/away. 2017 will re-introduce UConn, East Carolina, and Central Florida. 2018 will alternate home/away. 2019 will bring back Temple, Cincinnati, and South Florida. Rinse. Wash. Repeat.
We just had to play Temple in Philadelphia in consecutive years because of the divisional realignment three years into an existing conference - we weren't the only ones to do that.

The Bears return their QB, but lose some real good players, would be surprised if they are as strong. Pretty much agree on the rest...and no, that is not a bashing of the pinks, as much as that is usually deemed unacceptable, as only bashing Pastner is favored, it is a reasoned thought based on losing Tunsill and Kimdeeeecheee. We beat that pink ass when they were missing or out.
Our coach gets early sea legs, and we get some decent QB production, yes, 7-5 give or take a game. In two seasons, the effects of much higher level recruiting classes will likely show.
Looking forward to a road trip to Annapolis.
