This is very sad to hear:

Quote:MU football player dies after workout
By Graham Watson
Of the Post-Dispatch

Aaron O'Neal runs the ball for Parkway North in this file photo from 2003. The Mizzou recruit died Tuesday after taking part in a voluntary workout with the Tigers.
(Jorie Lewis)

Mizzou football player Aaron O'Neal of St. Louis died Tuesday after off-season workouts at Faurot Field.

Witnesses at the workout said O'Neal appeared to struggle after the last running drill, and was helped off the field and to the locker room by a teammate after practice.

He reportedly went into cardiac arrest around 3 p.m. However, the cause of death has yet to be released.

O'Neal, a redshirt freshman and former Parkway North linebacker, had no known cardiovascular problems. He was listed as No. 3 on the MU depth chart.

University officials said a statement regarding the incident would likely be released later this evening.

That is definitely sad. My prayers go out to his family, friends, and teammates.

What administrator overruled removing this comment. How can removing a comment of this nature not be OK?

GTS agreed it was tasteless, but didn't seem to really care. RebelKev said nothing was wrong with it and I quote, "Lord forbid somebody should be offended." Personally, I would've edited it too, but we aren't the final word on these matters. It makes me wonder what would offend them enough to warrant editing, especially after seeing what is allowed on the BOTD board.

I didn't even know the kid and my sensitivities were injured by the comment. I simply see no humor in the death of a child.

totally agree. that was one of the more distasteful and shameful things i've seen on a "respectable" message board in a while.

a tragic story that is repeated far to often these days. i know everyone has "voluntary" workouts, but something needs to be done to control these better. we hear 3 or 4 of these stories every summer it seems.

Sometimes it seems that during this time we should just lock all athletes up and do nothing because we're afraid they'll get arrested doing the wrong things or die doing the right things.

Thankfully, these are VERY isolated events.

I'm sure that Fsquid's banning was based on an accumulation of mis-deeds.

That is not what we were told. And arguing about the fact college baseball is a joke is not as serious as joking about a dead kid.

fsquid was banned for an accumulation of mis-deeds, his use of that word being the final straw. He received countless warnings and usually responded with abusive, colorful language. He is not an innocent victim, no matter what you want to believe.

Fair enough, but the kid that died was (an innocent victim for the mods here that are slow). You're right though, keep the jokes rolling in. Pathetic.

Since the mods are too chicken ****** to take it down you might consider doing the right thing. Got any kids? Sisters? Brothers? Your mom alive? Any of them fall out dead let us know so we can make light of it.
