How likely would a Final Four appearance be for SMU?
Would they make it that far? It's a crapshoot of course so it's hard to say but with a year as weak as this one, I'd put it as highly likely.

I guess it depends on your definition of "highly likely." I think of "highly likely" as at least better than 50/50, and if that's the case, I'm not sure if any teams this year are highly likely to make a Final Four run. It's wide open, but SMU would have as good of a chance as anyone if the match-ups went their way. I don't think there are any teams this year that are match-up proof, so that will be an even bigger factor than usual.

Seeing as SMU is on a post-season ban, I'm going to go out on a limb and say...Zero?

Coulda, woulda, shoulda... Didn't.

I guess it would depend on seeding. We'll know approximately what seed they would have gotten when the tournament actually starts.

as an SMU fan I think its unlikely. We have been weakened by playing only 7 players. Now if we had Keith Frazier and former Parade All American and Duke transfer Semi Ojeleye who both could have played this semester then maybe. Ojeleye decided to not play this semester so he could have 2 more full years

Then why even post in the thread? We all know that, it's a hypothetical.

I would say no,final 4 teams normally don't lose to schools like Houston or Temple.

Houston and Temple are not bad teams, granted they aren't great, and this is a down year. In 2005, North Carolina lost to Santa Clara (I believe they went 12-17) who cares?

Legs mend by themselves. If Pastner wasn't the Memphis coach Memphis would be --- 'dot dot dot?' (...) In the BXII?

I don't think Houston or Temple are bad teams, they're good but not final four good.

Neither was UCONN a couple of years ago at this stage of the season. Yet we all know what happened. Teams get hot and come out of nowhere. There is no obvious (not post-season banned) candidate in the AAC now but that could change.

True but as of now I would have to say no for any team in the AAC making a final four.

Only because SMU is ineligible.

Nope. Tulsa would have still pulled it out. 04-chairshot

If they're even matched up with Tulsa. Cincy would have been a 1-seed with Martin, which actually also had the potential for danger, as North Carolina could have been waiting in the wings in the second round. As an 8 seed, UNC made the Final Four that year.

It is my belief that SMU could have won the national title, especially in a down year like this. 03-banghead

RE: How likely would a Final Four appearance be for SMU?
eh SMU isn't that great. They are good but not Top 10.

Having said that, with the parody this year and no dominant team I suppose they would have as good a shot as many teams. But that is due mostly to the parody not so much SMU being elite.
