Question
Has Pastner passed Kirk in Tiger wins? I'm finding it difficult to get matching totals from different sites on the internet.

Thanks for compiling this.

Not a fair comparison, though. Kirk inherited a run-down program from Wayne Yates and had two sub-par years to start. He had us on a roll and in the national spotlight when he passed the keys to Finch. Pastner inherited a nationally recognized program with great recruiting potential/fan base and has run it into national irrelevancy. I've often wondered what our history would be if Kirk had stayed for another 10 years.

No doubt, Kirk is probably the best game coach in school history.

Pastner is trending down, Kirk was going up before he went to jail.

Similar time frame however.

I know of two games that I would really dispute your assertion. Detroit and Villanova.

Could Google everything and not even need this board. Geez.

In comparison, The Tigers played in a much tougher Metro Conference back in the day compared to CUSA. After Dana's initial two 13-14 seasons he got it going with local mega stars.

What are not in the stats for Dana is that '83/'84 seasons ended in S16 with losses to Oilguwan, Drexler and Phi Slamma Jamma group. In '87, we were a 3 seed I believe and NCAA paired us with LSU ON THEIR HOME FLOOR and I think their in house refs. Biggest disservice ever done to a team in NCAA history. Lost by 1 or 2.

I'm trying to avoid googling everything so maybe minor disreprancy.

Yea that LSU made the final 4 as an 11 seed, the first to ever do it. The 84 houston team didnt have drexler, and in fact watching that game it looked like Kirk lost on purpose.
