Hahahahaha what?

Exactly what I said.

Syracuse, UConn, Villanova, Georgetown, Cincinnati, Louisville, St. Johns, ect... were all tougher competition week in and week out in basketball.

Basketball....I'm talking about Basketball.
You do know Huggins said that the big 12 is the hardest conference he ever coached in?

That's because it's the conference he's currently coaching in. Big12 is a great conference but it's common knowledge the Big East was one of the greatest basketball conferences of all time. Back east it was the Big East and ACC, then everybody else.

All I'm saying it's pretty silly to assume a power basketball conference is light years ahead of another one. I miss the old BE it was my second favorite conference to watch besides the big 12, but I think you take Uconn out of the old BE and put them into the old big12 and I bet they would have a hard time winning the conference.

All the power basketball conference are roughly the same. Take the big 12/SEC challenge, yes the big 12 had won it every year but the records are pretty close I wouldn't say the big 12 isn't light years ahead of them.

I think the big 12 is the hardest conference right now because everyone can beat anyone (besides TCU). While the BE might of been the best too heavy conference towards the bottom it wasn't as strong. I believe Huggins really meant what he said saying the big 12 is the toughest conference he coached in. Double round robin is hard.

Here's to you trying to de throne KU. I'm sick of their streak. 04-cheers

I don't know whats funnier, the fact that a B12 fan is trying to tell another B12 fan the BE was a tougher conference, or that a B12 fan actually thinks the B12 is better than the old BE. In one breath your telling us how tough the B12 is and in another you tell us your sick of Kansas winning the league. 03-lmfao

If the same team keeps winning your league for the last 20 years, that league is not a good league. UConn, which you used in your example only won the BE twice in the last 10 years, as did Syracuse. Louisville actually won the league 3 times. Georgetown and Pitt also won the league. The BE was tough from top to bottom and not just top heavy. That's why it once got 11 of 16 teams into the tourney.

Tourney bids are nice, but what you do with them matters far more.

The last team to win the National Championship west of the Mississippi River was Kansas in 2008. Before that it was Arizona in 1997.

I'm not disputing that, this isn't a west vs east thing. More power six basketball conferences has it members east of the mississippi though. you got the Pac 12, two teams in the big ten, 9 teams form the big 12, and two from the sec. the rest are east.

I'm not arguing that everyone besides the west and big 12 suck at basketball. I'm just saying that there isn't a basketball conference out there that is light years better than other ones.

I think all conferences are similar in strength.

These days perhaps, but the old Big East and ACC were clearly light-years ahead of everyone else previous to the last round of realignment.

How many sweet 16? How many B12 teams got past the first weekend? How many Final Four teams? How many B12 teams won the national championship the last 20 years, besides Kansas? How many tourney credits did your league earn? Its funny that you brag about the b12 getting 7 of 10 teams into the tourney last year but only one team made it past the first weekend.

We may lose the rest of our games. In fact, this message might be the kiss of death. But, Bob Huggins has a basketball team this year.

Well, that didn't quite end the way I was hoping.

EDIT: Congratulations to Stephen F. Austin. You guys kicked our butts big time.

Villanova vs Oklahoma last night.... Big East was and is still one of the toughest basketball conferences. It's ACC and Big East, then everybody else.
