Spoke w/Tom Bowen at Halftime
Asked him although I'm just Joe Fan, what can I do to support us getting into the B12.

He laughed and said we're in a good position. We need to have stronger attendance (he looked around the Forum), but said overall we're good. Said that B12 looks at entire athletic programs, not just football and baseball.

I told him he Oughtta wake up every day, and call at least one B12 AD and try to schedule SOMETHING, I don't care if it's a swimming meet or Rifling (yeah, I remembered our Rifle team is among the best in the country.)

He laughed and said "good idea!"

I'm probably forgetting something but that's the gist of it.

I do believe he's working it, despite the lack of blogger publicity...it's also up to us fans to do our share.

Whether anyone wants to admit it or not, our getting into the Big 12 or not getting in won't have anything to do with CJP.

Big 12 doesn't care if a monkey is leading the BB team. That's what I was told by an insider and I believe him.

If BB attendance is really so important, then Bowen otter do something to improve it--I'm not saying fire P...There's other things.

Defy the NCAA and put up banners. lol

Right. It won't be about basketball or basketball attendance. In fact we lead the league in attendance I believe still. Like I tried to tell the color Nazi earlier.

Merrick, thanks for the info though I do wish you had asked him where the university and backers stood on finding a replacement for Pastner.

TCU's basketball attendance is not worth a wart on a road. They were brought in to save the bacon and for additional football strength. Their basketball team's job is to killed by Kansas and company.

If that's the case, then their bball team is overachieving.

Tom Bowen has always been extremely nice to me. Way better than his predecessor for sure.

If he's an azzhole (when not in front of the camera), we've got the right guy.

Based on common sense, I would suggest making sure we at least do the following:

(1) Give something (even if only $10) every year to the annual academic fund. Helps USN&WR ranking and lets wealthier donors know we care.
(2) Maintain membership in the Alumni Association (also matters to USN&WR)
(3) Give as generously as possible to athletics (for scholarships, facilities, coaching salaries, etc.)
(4) Attend games (especially those televised) rain or shine, win or lose, etc.. (it matters)
(5) Travel to bowl games (conferences want members with good travel reputations)
(6) Join booster clubs (helps winning) such as the Highland Hundred, Rebounders, Bullpen Club, etc..

"Big Jack" stated at a pep rally about 35 years ago: "all it (success) takes is enough people wanting it enough". I would only add "and acting accordingly". Acting like spoiled brats and relying on FedEx, etc. to take care of everything ain't cutting it.

Some how, knowing the tone on this board and the possibility that the person asking that question is one of the "fire Josh" crowd on here.....if I was Bowen....I would have avoided answering that question at all costs....."Sorry I see someone over there that I have to talk to...nice meeting you."
