Did you tell your CUSA friends about the sweetheart deal to hold the first MACC games at your home field every time?
We want the MACC at our home field.
Wah, Wah, Wah.
Once you lost that, you pretty much went away on your own.
:crying: :crying: :crying:
You are on track to lose to UCF. You'll be outnumbered so don't try any of the usual.
I'll be happy to tell them about it.
You see, when the MAC expanded to 13 teams and initiated a conference championship game, they put the title tilt out for bid.
The Huntington Sports Committee, having hosted 25 NCAA 1-aa tournament games and four 1-aa title games put in a bid.
And it won. Contract to host three games. Not a contract to host and play in three games.
There was no uproar from the MAC schools. Pshaw. Those hilljack rednecks have no chance of winning their division and actually being in the game they host, and nothing will be sweeter than bringing our team to their stadium and playing for the title while they run the game.
And Marshall goes out and wins the East division. By an average 25 points per game I might add.
And wins the conference title game by 17 points. Lost three games all year. West Virginia, Miami (oh) and Mississippi in the bowl.
And then they went out and won the East again. This time it was by a closer margin, but the title game was in Huntington and so was the Herd.
What the jagoff from terdledo forgets to mention is their coach, now Mizzou coach Gary Pinkel, bitching and moaning about using the home lockers and making Marshall wear their road uniforms and stand on the visitor's sidelines.
Take your whoopin and go home Big Ten wannabe.
The next season Marshall went undefeated. Beat West Division Champ 31-17 in Kalamazoo, Mich in a game that wasn't even that close. Beat Toledo 38-17 in a game that wasn't that close during the regular season.
Marshall sleep walked through a dismal first half in the MAC title game and was down 24-0 at the half.
Most everyone here knows about the comeback and Pennington's pass to seldom thrown to Eric Pinkerton for the winning TD with four seconds on the clock.
Then the MAC put the game out for bid again. Only this time nobody wanted it. It was given back to Marshall because they ran out of time trying to find a suitable host.
Marshall floundered through a tough first half of the season behind five new offensive linemen, several severe injuries in the backfield and a new QB, Byron Leftwich.
Toledo pounded us 42-0 and Western Michigan, who ended up West champ, beat us 30-10 on our home field in a game that wasn't that close.
Marshall won five straight east division games and won the East.
Marshall beat Western in the MAC title game.
The next season the MAC decided to rotate the game to the division winner's site. First the west, then the east, then the west.
Toledo beat Marshall in a tremendous game in Toledo in 2001.
Marshall beat Toledo in a tremendous game in 2002.
Miami beat Bowling Green in a romp in 2003
And when it looked like Marshall might be favored in 2004 to win the East, the MAC decided to find a neutral field, and Ford Field in Detroit ended up being the host.
A great move for the MAC, seven years too late in my opinion.
But it wasn't Marshall's fault and there was no whining about hosting the title game.
Of course, the MAC trolls won't tell that one.
