I am looking forward to seeing the line on the UCF / Marshall Game. UCF has home field and Moffet and O'leary have a year under their belt.

UCF could give C-USA big problems with 44K students, Florida Talent, New Facilities, and escalating admission standards.

My money is on UCF.

Other than another back handed slap to us hilljacks, as you like to call us, what does upgrading admission standards, which may, or may not be true, have to do with the quality of the UCF football team this fall. You can get by with calling us these culturally biased names, but I don't see you using the "N" word around anyplace, and there is no difference, except you can get by with one, and not the other. FYI, as of the last legislative session, Marshall University, and WVU, both are now allowed to discriminate in their admittance policies.
ps. much to your dismay, we are on target to become a National University within (5) years. Although, we will all still be toothless, and shoeless, and ignorant, hillbillies. You are not fooling people. If you show such disrespect for us, than I know what you are calling all of your great players behind their backs, and it starts with N.

And here I thought we were going to have an intelligent conversation.

I'll say the winner wins by 7.

Carolinaherd,
Sir:

I posted a redneck joke link once and it was in jest. My mom is from WV. My family tree goes back to the backwoods of Virginia. I live in the rural south.

I haven't heard Toledo's coach call anyone a Mandingo lately. Speak for yourself re: the N word.

You made the big point that UCF would rebuild and would have ruled the MAC. Guess what, they might rule C-USA.

I am speaking for myself. I do not care where anyone is from. I am not from West Virginia. However, it is wrong to abuse, even in jest, their cultural heritage. Appalachain Americans, are probably the only minority left in America, that are still fair game to joke, and say what you want. This hurts these people, as much as it hurts African Americans, or Native Americans. I am not trying to rubb on you. We will all be using these boards for a long time to come, but I just expressed my true feelings about this particular subject. These people have definetly taken enough throughout the years. IMHO. That is not directed to you, but a cultural statement of belief on my part.

As far as UCF. All I said was, they once had an excellent team. They have recently had a lousy team. That was Marshall's, and the MAC's good fortune. I do not wish them continued bad luck, but my statement concerning talent, I believe is pretty realistic. They, indeed do, sit in the middle of a talent meca.

Get ready for many ignorant and angry posts from chemmie. He's the biggest hard-head a$$hole on the Rivals board and I don't see why he'll be any different on here.

What does an "Appalachain American" look like?

I don't think I ever met one.

I've met a BUNCH of people from West Virginia, Tennessee, NC, Virginia, etc....but not sure I ever met any "Appalachain Americans".

Now...if we can get on to more important things about the Federal Protection of the Suburbian Americans who really NEED our protection & support...we will be better Americans for it.

KL

PS. To those Appalachian Americans and Suburbian Americans who just read this post. ...this was made in jest.

Best of luck to your survival.

I have posted before, I never bet on a team I have emotion over. For me Marshall would be at the top of my do not bet list. I believe this could be a three point game. UCF, has always played us tough, and we are rebuilding, and UCF will be at home, and should be a much improved team over this past year. We should be better than advertised. That makes for a good game. I plan on being there. Perhaps, I can meet some of you fellows, and gal's, or whatever, but I believe it will be a tough (3) point game. The best team wins.

Carolinaherd,

I know you lost alot of players last year, so I'd expect Marshall to suffer what we did (to a much lesser degree) as far as having to play young guys.

Last year that's ALL we had- young kids with virtually no experience.

That's why I think Marshall is going to struggle this year. You can't replace guys all over your roster AND have a brand new coach and expect to be instantly competitive.

But 2-3 years from now you should be fine.

Who will win the game, which team generally wins the game between MARSHALL and the school with the NATIONS LONGEST LOSING STREAK. Nothing should be any different this season as in the past, Marshall will win

Here would be an interesting poll, will central win a game this season or will the NATIONS LONGEST LOSING STREAK continue, my bet , it continues

I'm not sure I'd agree with that.

In 2003, the MACs banner year, one more team doing great things could have changed the perception of the conference even more. All that hype from NIU/Marshall/BGSUs BCS simultaneous wins - gone. Not saying that a great UCF season would have changed all that, but it wouldn't have removed one of the many bottom feeders holding the rest down.

Even in 2004, when UCF gave every MAC team it played a win to get them towards bowl eligibility - it didn't help Akron - the only DIA team with a winning record to not go to a bowl.

MAC = :(

Anyone who believes that UCF is going to continually be a doormat in football, is a candidate for the twilight zone. I, in all sincerity, can't figure out how they dropped down the way they have. UCF should win 5-7 games this year. If not, O'Leary is not the man.

p.s. there is no way they should have gone winless last year. This really made be question O'Leary's competence.
