Personally I think there is a better way to honor someone than getting a disingenuous technical foul. It's somewhat disrespectful to FAU to do it just because you have a big lead. If the game was close it would have never happened. What's next Tom Crean throwing a chair across the floor?
FAU had absolutely zero chance of coming back in that game and their coach was in on the foul from what I know. Lighten up. It's a basketball game

FWIW they let Curry of FAU in on it as well. No harm done. It was a wonderful gesture and everyone got a kick out of it and even Curry and Haase had a laugh about it after the game. Lighten up Francis.

He is a senior and only his second year playing for us after his transfer. There is a lot of talent coming in next year with recruits and transfers sitting on the bench. There is probably a starting line up sitting out this year. We will be fine. The rest of the league better worry about the rest of our team heating up. Freeman is starting to get some support.
I'll take my chances with Freeman gone against your talent coming in. That guy is good.
Yeah he's ridiculous. If he's not cusa player of year ilk be shocked.
I've seen every team in CUSA play this season, several of them in person, and I'd have to agree with you. I'd be shocked too if he doesn't get the award this season. No disrespect meant to the winner but he should have gotten the award last year too. Probably didn't because they gave it to the first place team senior versus the lower seeded team guy playing his first year in the league. They gave him first team honors and newcomer of the year awards instead. It happens.
If Charlotte has some inside talent coming in for next season then they should be a very tough team to contend with. ODU has what appears to be a lot of talent coming in next season (several of them transfers - like Freeman was) and should be fine in spite of the tremendous loss of Freeman.
Both players are deserving. Freeman will get it because of his play last year and this year. Kelly has only done it for one year. CUSA coaches tend to give the award to seniors how have paid their dues.

The coaches who have scouted and seen every team vote on the award so I'm sure they knew a little bit more than you do about who deserves the award.

Worst cheating by referees I've seen in a while. I didn't say incompetence, I said BLATANT CHEATING! What a joke.
I didn't watch it, but 31 fouls on LT/33 FT attempts to 28 fouls on UNT/40 FT attempts looks pretty even. What did they do that would be considered cheating outside of calling a ton of fouls on both teams?
LA Tech E. McCree fouled out of game
LA Tech M. Holden fouled out of game
LA Tech J. Boykins fouled out of game
LA Tech D. Jean fouled out of game
Four "traveling" calls (turnovers) on the same Tech player and all four whistled by the same referee
UNT J Reese fouled out of game
Can't say I ever remember a game where 4 out 5 starters fouled out. 60 fouls is ridiculous.
We all need to move past the idea that fairness can be captured simply by number of fouls or free throws.
The likelihood of two teams fouling the same is statistically very, very low. Teams play differently.
I didn't watch that game so I am not commenting on the officiating. I didn't see it. But just wanted to get that general thought out there.
If Team 1 is called for 8 fouls, all on the perimeter with different players, none of shooting variety, while Team 2 is called for 8 fouls, all shooting fouls, it makes a very large difference in scoring opportunities. [/align]

Obviously that's not what I was referring to. It was the amount of fouls called both ways, that stop play literally every time down floor in the second half. That is no way to play basketball. Let that sink in- 60 fouls were called in a regulation game.
Of course we were on the losing end of the fouls because 4 out 5 starters fouled out but that was not the reason Tech lost.

I know it was not and was not trying to reference really any specific post in the thread. Obviously 60 fouls is hard to watch. That's how our yearly game with WVU was for about 10 years. Not a game you'd want to share with the outside world.
I do think, again without having seen this particular game, that players and coaches can fail to adjust to officiating. It may have been atrocious officiating, poor play, poor coaching, or a combination. Regardless, I fully understand your pain. UTEP shot 37 FT's against Marshall the other night. I didn't see that game and I'm not saying it was wrong, but that many stoppages in play saps the energy out of even a 112-108 regulation game.
