I am worried that the Huskies play of late has put Monty on the hot-seat, the program's future up in the air. They must get to 19-20 wins minimum. They have been 7-10 MAC the last two years, they must improve on that!

Not with the remaining schedule the way it is, a loss today would spell doom for NIU in terms of seeding. If they don't beat Ohio I just cannot see them finishing better than a 7 seed, and that would take some upsets down the road to get there. As far as Monty goes, there is no way he is on the hot seat. Mission was accomplished with the cupcake schedule, he will possibly win 20 games and come off the best recruiting class in some time, he is absolutely safe this year. Having said that, my faith in Monty has become tarnished a bit this year. Still hopeful, but a little disappointed. I think the day Monty learns we are not Michigan State, the sky will be the limit for this team.

You know they only have MAC games left right? If they get to 20 wins they will be better than a 7-seed. At 16-wins, they have not won enough games to get off the hot-seat. That is going to take a minimum of 2 more wins. Huskies got to get going and it's a tough road ahead!

4 more wins would put them at a 6/7 seed probably , but I think 4 more wins is the most optimistic scenario left. 5 more wins would put them into the 4-6 range, to win 5 more the Ohio game is a must. You speak of "getting off the hot seat", which might make sense except I don't think he was ever on the hot seat. I am not saying I am a big Coach Montgomery supporter now, but there is no way you are going to fire a coach that gives you your best record in forever, the best recruits in forever (another one coming in next year), etc. It just would be very hard to do that. Now the one thing that could cause some confusion in that would be if by some chance NIU had a mass exodus of freshman at the end of this year. That might change the equation, but outside of that, he is safe at least through next season

I am probably the biggest Monty fan on the board. You are assuming that they can win at least two more games. Right know with the downward spiral of Bakers shooting even winning a two more games doesn't seem like a sure thing. The most wins had better be at least 18 and to be safe 19, it had better not be 16 or I wouldn't want to have a meeting with Frazier if I was Monty.

By the way, the NIU women are getting their pants pulled down at Ohio, getting embarrassed!

The value of NIU basketball right now is not this year, it is the future. Monty's recruiting success is what is largely responsible for that bright outlook. It would just be one hell of a bold move to fire a coach when a program that had the bleakest of outlooks in all of college basketball started to turn the corner. I am not sure NIU can fire Monty this year no matter what happens the rest of the year, unless you had something like a trio of freshman leave the program after this year. That would erode his security imo.

Ok, so finishing the season on a 0-12 or 1-11 or 2-10 streak and everything is ok. 16-15 record and all is ok?

Huskies need a good start no offense drought at the start. Does Wilson start instead of Orris today?

I would fall off my chair if that ever happened, playing time based on performance, not sure we are ready for that kind of revolution yet.

This game is over. I think they can beat BG and Ball St at home but I don't see another win maybe at EMU. The train has officially derailed. Baker is being the player he was for the past three years and Orris what can you say!

We do look over matched. Lets see if the team continues to play hard and keeps their heads in the game.

If this season continues as it is now trending, what does this say about the coaching staff? Is the season a net improvement, or quite a flame out at the end?

+1. I don't see us beating BG or Ball State either unless they learn how to shoot again or Monty puts in a lineup that will give us a better chance to win.. The men and women can't buy a win.

I've never seen a team so bad at defending threes.
