So likely has to sit out a year. I'd worry about the "Chance Stewart" effect... Where there really is no reason to push a highly touted kid ahead of a seasoned veteran... Thus ending with touted QB rotting on the vine. Good pull, but beware.

Apples and bricks.
The Chance Stewart Era was all hype. He never played a down of D1 ball because others beat him out. All after "learning" the offense as a redshirt. Not his fault for all the hype.
Whoever Heir Collins is, he at least started a game, in the PAC 10. Doesn't make him Tom Brady but sure the heck doesn't make him Chance Stewart.

I use the effect in regard to the attempt to unseat the current QB. Until this kid proved better than the current stable at NIU (remember, their top QB was injured most of the year) it's hard to get too excited. And when a good QB can't crack the top based on coming in late to the party they tend to want to go elsewhere.
Now... This kid might be heads above the current... Just waiting to see how it pans out for them.

Since Collins has to sit out a year, Hare will be gone by 2017 when he's ready to play. Anyway, I wonder how well Hare will come back from his Achilles injury. He already wasn't that good of a runner, and that's pretty important in this offense. We already had a couple QB recruits before Collins signed - at least one of them looked pretty good. I suspect whichever of those doesn't win the starting job (assuming it's even among those 2-3) might very well transfer and we'll never see them on the field.
Watching the videos, the guy certainly can run. He completed 52% of his passes at Oregon State, so he has work to do there.

IMO, this shows how NIU has been able to break through the local/regional program barrier.
