This may be the dumbest idea I've ever seen come out of Washington. Whomever came up with it should be put out onto the street and shot.

Yeah I'm more pro green energy than most here, having worked in the industry in the past, but I still think this is ludicrous.

There is never an end to trying to confiscate funds from ever increasing sources. Those on that side will never be content until they control all of it. It's as though they are pushing to return to the days of serfdom and they're the landowner in the manor house.

I'm all for a basket of energy sources. But this attack on oil, gas, and coal is completely getting out of hand. The exchange from the usage of fossil fuels to green energy should be done more organically. Not forced upon us, especially considering that there aren't too many viable alternatives to what we currently have. I've seen more and more pickup trucks being propelled by natural gas over the past two years. The market needs to dictate this exchange, not what the WH is doing.

He knows it will never get through Congress. It's totally done to provide Hill and Bernie with the lie that Republicans want to hold granny's face up to a tailpipe until she passes out.

Instead of being harsh to oil, you should smack them down by offering great incentives for green energy instead, making it a lot more logical to pursue those options than the typical non-renewable fossil fuels.

Y'all do realize it's (fossil fuels) gonna run out one day, right? Just want to make sure you realize that fact.

But you have to pay for those incentives. Obama is going to offer incentives he just plans on using the oil tax to pay for them.

As to fossil fuels running out "some day" sure. But it's not going to be any time soon (read the next century). And as it starts, there will be a natural economic pressure pushing these alternative energy sources.

In the mean time what really needs to be developed is better storage options for wind/solar energies.

which is the whole point. private sector technology and innovation, mostly in form of fracking, have dramatically reduced the cost of fossil fuels, which is blowing green energy out in the market place. the obamites are so desperate that they are artificially inflating their cost with an arbitrary tax.

Yea, derp a derp.

Heard we were gonna be out by 1984 by the "experts", in 1974, too.

One day? Sure, I guess. What one day are you putting your chips on?

Funny thing is, we keep discovering things every day. The worldwide famine that was predicted when the earths population hit 3 billion didn't happen either.

Funny. 07-coffee3

Depending on who you talk to that day may be an insanely long way off. According oto a Forbes article (can't find the link anymore) it could be about 1000 years from now. Does that mean we don't need to be investing in green-energy alternatives? Certainly not. It does mean that we don't need to force green energy before it is ready by punishing the producers of the world's only reliable energy source or the consumers. In another 50-75 years combustion engines and coal fired power plants may be as antiquated as steam powered horseless carriages. The point is green energy and alternatives like small scale-nuclear should be promoted on their own merits rather than forced on consumers before they are reliable.

Why don't they propose something like this to pay down the debt. 20 trillion in the hole should start scaring some people. When you factor in unfunded liabilities it should make your sphincter pucker.

We have to cut spending and raise consumer taxes. Both sides are ready willing and ABLE to do one of the two.
