Scouting:
Amida Brimah, UConn's 7ft center did not play in the last game because of a broken finger. He returned in their last game, 1 67-41 win over UCF. Brimah didn't make a huge difference with 6 points, 2 rebounds and 2 blocks. In the last game Shaq was able to get some looks inside. It will be interesting to see if that is still true with their shot blocker back. UConn has won 4 of their last 5 games with their only loss 58-57 to Cincinnati at home.

Does anyone else get that "punched in the gut" feeling when you see that we are tied for seventh place in our league?

Does anyone get that "punched in the gut" feeling when we play halfway decent teams like UConn and you know we'll probably keep it close, but ultimately lose?

That UConn defense is stout and has me worried giving up only 6 points per game.

There is only a game and half between the 2nd place teams and the 7th place teams so win a couple and we can move up pretty quickly.

Cincy, Temple, Tulsa: 6-3
UConn: 5-3
Houston: 6-4
Memphis, UCF: 4-4

we are 116th in points given up per game? i know we play faster than most teams but figured we'd at least be in the 70s given our defensive efficiency ratings/points per 100 possessions

took us on the money line at +110 - we haven't played since Saturday so we will probably come out slow per usual but I think we should be able to pull out a win at home

We were 58th last time we played UConn. Last four games opponents have averaged 81.5 ppg.

Wow. And two of those games were against ECU and UCF. Three of them were on the road though. I knew not playing any road games until January 2nd would eventually come back to bite us.

Sure......but if any team can string together a handful of wins, they'll move up very quickly. Maybe the Tigers can do that, maybe not. But they still very much control their own destiny. Not many 7th place teams can say that.

I think Brimah will eventually make all the difference in the world for UCONN, not only tonight, but for their season period. If he plays at least 18 minutes tonight, I don't see any way we win. Biggest difference maker on the floor.

Problem is our schedule. May be one of the toughest left in the conference starting tonight.

The Tigers have shown no proof in the last two years that they can do that. They can't finish. I wish to heck they could, but they falter every time. If only they could get out to a decent lead in the 2nd half, they might be able to hold on.

I agree with you....wishful thinking. But it can happen. Do I expect it? Honestly, no.
