All the home games are on Saturdays, which is great, IMO.

RE: 2016 Rice Football Schedule
Loving the away game on Thanksgiving.
Plus, we will likely get a decent amount of coverage for that game if Stanford has done well during the season. Obviously we can get utterly embarrassed, but even if we do, hopefully there will be a nice narrative about finding a new coach and investing in the program and such. But hey, maybe the team can get inspired and pull off a big upset that upends Stanford's season? (hahahaha, doubt it).

0-3 start is a very realistic possibility.
L - 09/03/16 at Western Kentucky Bowling Green, KY
L - 09/10/16 at Army West Point West Point, New York
L - 09/17/16 vs. Baylor Rice Stadium
W - 09/24/16 vs. North Texas Rice Stadium
L - 10/01/16 at Southern Miss Hattiesburg, MS
W - 10/15/16 vs. UTSA Rice Stadium
W - 10/22/16 vs. Prairie View A&M Rice Stadium

W - 11/12/16 at. Charlotte Charlotte, NC
W - 11/19/16 vs. UTEP Rice Stadium
L - 11/26/16 at Stanford Palo Alto, California
Looks like 6-6. Although that doesn't include the one Bailiff per year where we'll lose to a Charlotte. So 5-7.

Both are just about as horrible. Year 10, 5-7 or 7-5 is a long way away from acceptable, let alone good.

RE: 2016 Rice Football Schedule
I'm glad we play a game before we go to Westpoint. I wouldn't want to take on Army straight out of two-a-days. I don't think we'll beat WKU, but at least the game will prepare us for Army. We should be favored in seven games, and no one really knows how good Louisiana Tech will be. We should be much better, while they may de down. I also see 7-5 right now, which is a gigantic improvement from last season and step in the right direction.
I have a feeling that this is Bailiff's last season. I think he's ready to move on and the university is ready as well. I hope it ends well for all involved. All I know is that we need to be back in a bowl game. My withdrawal symptoms were terrible. I really got spoiled with the three bowl games in a row. I took it for granted. I want to go back.

I'm dying to hear your logic as to why/how "we should be much better"?

Don't start with me. All of our players will be a year older and a year bigger. All of the starters we lost last season will be back, especially on the DL. David Bailiff is back, and he's more than capable of leading Rice to bowl games and ten-win seasons. He's done it before and he'll do it again. Watch.

Well, that cleared up my Labor Day Weekend plans. Probably not gonna travel to Bowling Green. Not quite sure where it is, exactly.
As has been said before..it's a tough schedule. 6-6 is my expectation. 7-5 would be good. But hope springs eternal.

So, Homecoming is probably Prairie View or FAU. I'm guessing FAU, but would love to know sooner rather than later.

There's a Bowling Green in Ohio, too, but that's the next confer - er, state up.

No, no, no. It would be MUCH better to play Army in the first game, because more practice in assignment football is a good thing. One huge advantage option teams have is that opponents have just one week to prepare.
Your remark that playing Western Kentucky will prepare Rice for Army is beyond comprehensible. Western Kentucky uses a totally different style of offense, and nothing in the way of defensive preparations for that game will be of any use whatsoever against Army.

Yup - Corvette Capital of the World is about 60-70 miles north of Nashville, TN
