MAPS GALORE!
MOST LOVED TEAM (ALL SPORTS)
(It's great to be loved!)

MOST HATED BASKETBALL TEAM
[Image: g2laqca-e1407783185453.gif?w=635&h=412]
(...But it's better to be feared/hated!)

MOST HATED FOOTBALL TEAM
[Image: college_football.0.jpg]
(It's really great to be hated here!)
WHERE THE ACC RECRUITS (FOOTBALL - 2014)
(I think that this is before UL was added.)

WHERE THE B1G RECRUITS (FOOTBALL - 2014)
[Image: Big-Ten-2014-Roster-Recruiting-Heat-Map.png]
(I'm pretty sure that this map is before the UL, RU, and UMD movement. Look at NJ/MD. That's PSU and that's a lot of why they care. Donors/alumni distributions are another significant driving force.)

WHERE THE SEC RECRUITS (FOOTBALL - 2014)

WHERE THE BIG XII RECRUITS (FOOTBALL - 2014)

WHERE THE PAC RECRUITS (FOOTBALL -2014)

WHERE THE TALENT IS (SUMMARIZED)
[Image: Screen-Shot-2014-01-24-at-7.52.35-AM1.png]

WHERE THE NFL TALENT IS
[Image: 25-maps-that-show-where-professional-ath...e-from.jpg]

WHERE THE NBA TALENT IS
[Image: US-Before-1945.0.png]

WHERE THE SCHOOLS ARE
[Image: NCAA-college-football-FBS.jpg]
(Look at the recruitment/school ratio down south, especially east Texas and Louisiana!)

WHERE THE PRO TEAMS ARE (FOOTBALL)
(St. Louis is now in LA, and I'm not sure what's going on with the Raiders.)

WHERE THE PRO FANS ARE (FOOTBALL)
(Notice where they aren't - especially as it relates to the SEC west and key recruitment areas that also don't have many college competition.)

WHERE THE PRO TEAMS ARE (BASKETBALL)

WHERE THE PRO FANS ARE (BASKETBALL)
(Once again, notice where there aren't fans.)

IS IT RACIAL?
(Talent doesn't actually look like it follows racial lines. I think that it's more a matter economic factors and fan interest/competition.)
Other maps:

http://www.businessinsider.com/25-maps-t...om-2013-10
(You can see how the game has moved, why the north is hurting, and why the B1G will struggle to maintain its position moving forward.)

Nice work...I disagree on your last point. While economic factors/fan interest are obviously key (HS FB in the South much bigger than in the NE)...it is still racial...the dark green areas are over represented by Blacks in the South and if you look at the Heat maps...a ton of recruits come from there.

I don't want to get too detailed, but Los Angeles, Miami, Wyoming, Nebraska, Hawai'i, and Ohio all stand out as outliers to me. That's a lot of outliers.

However, I really didn't intend race to be the focal point of the thread.

Great maps! But CBS needs a geography lesson. On the NBA location map, they have Charlotte where Wilmington is.

RE: MAPS GALORE!
Due to HS basketball factories, the "NBA players who went to HS in this state" stat is misleading.
