Budgets...UCF has one of the lower budgets in AAC Basketball.

RE: Plane carrying Tulsa Basketball team loses an engine, makes emergency landing
A long time friend of mine played FB for Mississippi State from 1969 through 1972 (I have forgiven him for that indiscretion). One Saturday night after a game against UT in Knoxville, they were waiting for their Southern Airways charter at the airport. It was well overdue. When they learned that the flight was cancelled they also learned why. Their charter was the plane that was carrying Marshall's team home from ECU. It was supposed to come to Knoxville after bringing Marshall home.

Not to derail the thread, but how is Devon doing?? I searched for updates awhile back and couldn't find anything new...
I know he graduated and is pursuing a Masters in Neuroscience. He is also being a mentor to the players. I was lucky enough to meet him and his mother after a game. They are just the most kind people you would ever meet. Truly blessed people as we are to have him.

I was on the sidelines when he got hurt. It was a bad deal to watch. Glad he's doing well. And glad our team was ok today.

The Devon Walker tragedy was a great time for U Tulsa and Tulane fans to really show some class. I was proud of the response of our fans at the game (dead silence), medical personnel (the head of trauma and an entire team at the largest medical center was waiting before the ambulance arrived, on a Saturday...), and follow up (the support for him while he was stuck here and after he got home, as well as his return to Tulsa was awesome). Tulane stepped up to take care of, and adopt a fallen student athlete to ensure he continued being a student. Of course, both schools did what we should expect --- but that doesn't always happen.

Re Tulsa flying Charter. We fly charter MOST of the time. But sometimes it is easier, faster, or better to fly commercial - notably if it is over water. We flew commercial to the US Virgin Islands for the tournament early in the year (my cousin happen to be on a return flight, many private jets do not have open water certification ). So it isn't universal.
I wonder if charter ever approaches break even for some destinations? Connecting from Tulsa to Dallas to Philadelphia and coming home the next day isn't cheap. Make the flight for 20+ people and then have a repeat customer relationship with the charter. I'd love to see the numbers on it.
Orlando, Houston, SMU might be at a disadvantage - so many direct flights and so many more flights. Might throw the math off for a charter service?

I feel bad because I'm 6 foot 1 & I had to duck my head when I walked down the aisle of the plane so I feel bad for any tall people it's not comfortable. That plane the emb145 is long and narrow, it's the Ford pinto of the planes.
These embrair jets are as most regional jets, low on the quality scale

A couple of things that I remember when that terrible accident happened was the prayer over the loud speaker and Tulsa Coach Bill Blankenship coming to the Tulane coach and putting his arm around him. The medics did a very good job of keeping the scene cleaned up. There was legitimate concern from everyone from the fans, personel and medical staff.
Hope he has a successful life and career.

How the hell does Tacko Fall fit his legs in a commercial flight's seating area? It's uncomfortable at 6'.

Luckily most conference games are only a handful of steps for Tacko to walk to.

Has anyone pointed out the fact that this kid is really tall?
I mean, really tall. I am to Tulsa's starting center what Tulsa's starting center is to Tacko. The guy is tall!

They would have been ok in Kentucky. That's where cincys international airport is.
Was at the Airport last week on a Business trip. That is the deadest Airport I've ever been through, for a City that size.
