Obama's detente with Cuba is probably my favorite foreign policy act of his term. The rest of it has been a mixed bag.

I'll say it now the Cuba isssue is about the only thing I think Obama's gotten right in terms of foreign policy. There might be one or two other small issues (can't remember off the top of my head) but that's it.

Yes, coddling dictators and generally encouraging every other thugocracy on the planet is a noble enterprise. If a few thousand people get disemboweled in the process, well, you can't make an omelette without breaking a few eggs.

That's exactly the function of the Greatest Democracy on Earth.

Agreed. Our Cuba policy should have been amended decades ago.

Is there a point in there somewhere...or are you just talking to talk? I don't see much of anything rooted in any sort of reality.

Depends. Is the money just being redirected toward where it needs to be, or are we just spending more money on the military to spend more money?

Is the overall budget on the military increasing erratically?

You're right because our former policy was about to work. After 50 years of embargo, they were on the verge of collapse. Lmfao

My favorite "This is certainly possible" conspiracy has always been that one of the reasons that Obama wanted to open relations with Cuba was that so he could give back Guantanomo Bay to Cuba as one of his last acts in office, in essence closing the Navy base and the jail.

RE: Obama calls the 80s for their foreign policy
Even though I now agree that Cuba talks are the right way to go, 50 years ago it was unthinkable. Having grown up in Miami, Fl during the Cuban missile Crisis and with the Militarization of South Florida where every Shopping center had a Mobile Nike missile launcher truck parked on the lot, it was a scary time for a preteen. and soon afterward Several of Your new neighbors whom were refugees from Havana, mostly whom also spoke good English, would tell You about Their friends, neighbors and even family members that were rounded up and executed on the sides of buildings with 50 cal. machine Guns just for not supporting the Castro Revolution. The Castro Brothers were ruthless animals and so were the Cuban Rebels that put Them in power.

again with the indians. first of all, they were slaughtering each other pretty efficiently before we ever showed up. but what you choose to call "slaughter", I choose to call "civilize". you say we "slaughtered" them, I say we "civilized" them.
