Spring practice is set to start on 02/16/16. Here's to hoping that they can find a QB they can win with and get the offense executing better.

Agreed! Who would've thought we'd ever say that with a third year returning starter at the helm?? On paper that should be the one position we don't have to worry about....

I saw on Twitter that Kent State had their last spring practice on 03/18/16, so they got it all in before spring break and now the players can focus on academics and getting bigger, faster, & stronger.

Unofficial scholarship player count is 67 for spring ball......double that with the 14 freshmen coming this summer/fall and that leaves 4 open scholarships.

Haynes brought in a new Offensive Line coach, promoted Colin Ferrell from Graduate Assistant to Defensive Line coach, gave Mark Spencer the title of Recruiting Coordinator from Ben Needham, hired a new Director of Football Operations, and a new head strength/conditioning coach (which is good news, because I heard nothing but bad news regarding the previous guy who was on Haynes staff for 3 years).

Really hopeful that Haynes/staff can get this thing turned around this fall, with it being his 4th year and being a KSU player/asst coach alum.

Anyone on here see or hear anything on how KSU Football's spring practice went?

I only read the football string to get a laugh. This team makes the Browns look good. Hopefully they can get away for the summer and get ready for 3 wins.

KSU Football has 16th strength of schedule, highest in MAC for the upcoming season.

I wish I had more faith in the coach ... :(

Allen Moff of the Record Courier reported that Colin Reardon will play WR this season and no QB. He also reported that Paul Haynes has 2 years left on his contract (for some reason I thought it was only (1) year left).

Nick Cuthbert has moved from S to LB and Raekwon James will split time @ WR & RB.

Haynes said Simmons needed to be close to home in Florida for "personal reasons" and he (Haynes) agreed with him.

Simmons was a good player. We'll miss him.

PJ Simmons went home to Florida for family medical reasons. Yes, Justin Agner will push George Bollas for the starting job.

Are we sure he won't? I know nothing that can't be read immediately above this post. Based on his size, HS numbers, and the fact he had a redshirt year I assumed he would be the top threat to Bollas. I guess that's good news that Agner could compete for the job as a true freshman?

Just my opinion, but I think that Bollas is the QB now and of the future. He is big for a MAC QB, strong and fast enough. More importantly, he has the mind for the game and position. I would not be surprised to see Mylik at another skill position at some point. If Bollas did not impress anyone yet, remember, he is young and had very little help. OL was weak and running game was non existent. I have no idea if those areas are any better this year.

If the OL is not markedly better, it really makes no difference who the QB is.
