I truly believe that a healthy Melvin Vaughn will make a HUGE difference in the offense. He often gets lost in the discussion of our perceived offensive woes. He will also contribute to the improvement and development of the offensive line.

Is he a blocking TE?
Otherwise he could provide for a quick dump safety valve and he ties up a defender, but we will still need an OL that can protect.

he could help the OL double team a pesky DT or DE, he could probably disrupt a blitzing LB. as a receiver (which I suspect will be his main contribution) he'll be a mismatch for a LB or S or even a CB that's covering him.

That's exactly right. I don't think he can block one on one but he can disrupt an edge rusher and drift 5-7 yard into the flat.

So far in our short history our best QBs to date have come out of no where to be great leaders. I think were going to have a similar situation this off season. One of these 6-8 QBs will shine. DeMarco came to us as a punter/ QB and was 3rd on the depth chart and shared time in two games before he was named the starter at ODU. TH unheard of and 3rd on the depth chart and was thrown into the fire.

Since 2007 all the hype around recruiting QBs I guess somewhere around 15 QBs or more have come and gone. Tommy Reamon was the 21st best QB in the nation when he signed to play at ODU. Dominique Blackman was a 3 star player. These guys dont pan out and I got a feeling the next best QB at ODU will be a TD/TH type of recruit, someone that comes in and the coaches dont play a lot attention right away.

I have a hunch about Brennan Lewis. That area of NC and under the radar guys just rings a bell. Raw talent, 6'4" 200 and 4.68 40. After a year with a trainer I think that kid has a high ceiling from my untrained and totally non-professional eye.

From the sounds of that, there is no way this thing opens on the original schedule.

Not sure where the communication breakdown is but sounds like both parties aren't on the same page with expectations. Which honestly is sad when you're talking about a million bucks.

Does this mean that the VT games will be axed?

I went to the pinstripe bowl this year and it was my first time in the new Yankee Stadium. I was kinda impressed, and it prompted me to look up more info on it.
I read up on the "Legends Suites" and right away thought that the same kind of over priced (non-purchased) seats might find their way into our new stadium.

I know these guys are good, but I'm not so sure delays are due to ODU anymore.

I read that story differently. It sounds to me like ODU asked for data, Populous provided a ton of it, and ODU doesn't know what to do with all of the data they have. The more I see out of our current admin, the more I wonder about their level of competence. They don't seem to be able to get anything sports related done efficiently, and Wood continually makes promises that they never come close to being able to keep during the early stages of significant decisions. On the non sports side issues like dealing with crime, getting a fair shake out of Richmond, and raising the University's overall profile seem to continually come up short of expectations / needs....but boy do the fundraise well.
