UAB announces raising of minimum wage from $8.24 to $11 per hr this spring
This is expected to affect about 1,100 full time UAB employees. What percentage of UAB's daily nonprofessional staff does this 1,100 comprise?
Those already making between $11 and $16 will receive proportionate raises to be announced later this spring.
Part time and student employees will continue at the $7.25 level.
Source is the BBJ
$11 per hour is about $22,000 annually, about $2,000 less than the national poverty wage for 2016.

Did UAB follow through on this announced raise after the state legislature acted by statute to prevent municipalities from raising local minimum wages?

Upping the pay for your lowest wage earners isn't something you have to ask the government about. It can be done without their consent.

yes, because UAB is not a municipality. UAB is free to set whatever policies they want. hell, they even offered benefits like health insurance to same sex partners well before same sex marriage was legal
