Temple President, "Let's Proceed With The Stadium"
It looks like Temple will move forward... The Philly Inquirer is saying the President and school will move forward.

"Raucous crowd protesting the stadium"

These are the knuckleheads that think that people should pay to come watch the robot playing chess challenge.

I know they were the picked on group who feels that at this time in their life they should be able to fight back against their former bullies. But not one person paid to watch us create math equations to depict physical behavior.

I wish they would learn that FB bring people together and is the equivalent of going to the theater. It's entertain, net, embrace it and enjoy your college years.

Great for Temple, Congrats and I hope you start soon on the stadium. And leave those blood sucker back at the Linc.

It's going to happen, no matter how much the SJWs, and white guilters object.

NIMBY! They don't want to pay for another stadium and they don't want it in their backyard.

-They claim it's gentrifying that part of the city, despite the fact that much of North Philly is inundated with burnt down crack houses, single parent households, the unemployed, and non-taxpayers, not to mention it's our land.

-The SJWs want a sexual assault/misconduct center (?) and all workers to make $15 an hour which is laughable. I'm not sure what that has to do with a stadium

-People claiming it will be funded with taxpayer money and student fees, which it won't, at least not significantly when all is done

-People claiming it is going to displace people from their homes (again, mostly uneducated, unemployed, non-taxpayers leeching off the government)

-People claim it is going to result in knocking down recreation centers and community centers

-All the general complaints regarding stadiums--noise, trash, drunks, etc.

No one in this community ever takes responsibility for the killing, drug dealing, trash, general decrepitness, lack of education, lack of two parent households in their community. All they do is blame Temple and Temple students for their plight.

What's funny is they like to say they were there first. North Philly was originally home to wealthy white Jews until the Great Depression. Minorities eventually became the majority and ruined North Philly to this day.

They did the same thing when the Liacouras Center was being built. After they got their handouts, no one has said a thing.

RE: Temple President, "Let's Proceed With The Stadium"
The interesting thing is that based on comments, it looks like Temple not only has the approval of the mayor but also city council to move forward.

Next up is the Temple Board of Trustees. As the article stated they will hold a special meeting on Monday to get their input.

One by one Temple is getting the needed buy in to move ahead with this project.

From what I was told the final decision needs to be made by September in order to have a January groundbreaking.
This would allow for a stadium to be ready by the Fall of 2018.

At the rate things are going, we may see a final decision before the Spring game in April ... way ahead of the deadline ....

As far as the protesters are concerned, Temple has 38k students and 300k alumni. Doesn't it really matter if there are 200 protesters when you look at the big picture?

You're just pissed the open socialist is the most popular candidate in your neck of the woods, lol

You hate single people, the unemployed, the under-employed ('non tax payers'), the young, women, liberals, and feminists...who don't you hate in Philly?

For the entire 19th century up to the mid 20th century the neighborhoods along North Broad Street were places that you aspired to move up to. It wasn't until after WWII that people & businesses started leaving the City.
When opposing fans make the visit to the North Broad Street Stadium you'll see the remnants of the grand old city mansions that once could have rivaled anything in New York, Boston or Chicago.
Good luck with the stadium, it's great to see Temple Football rising.
I hope that the new stadium has a positive effect on the general blight of North Broad Street.

Congratulations and good luck to Temple.

I said in another thread once before the Temple President and AD were at the UC game this fall. I literally bumped into them in the concourse as I was trying to work my way to my aisle. They appeared to be taking in our own renovation and seemed very enthused at the time.
