Haven't heard about a transfer yet. Looks like they'll be named later. Will found out more at 1pm at their press conference.

Yes, can't believe a JMU poster was wrong, but a better option hopefully is about to announce. 02-13-banana

I don't see Ryan Rutkowski on this list. Isn't he supposed to be there?

RE: Recruiting Thread
Bryce Carter looks like he could do some serious damage, he is quick to disengage lineman and explosive at the point of contact. Very physical ...if not violent ...which translates well to the next level, lots of schools missed on this kid...he's going to be fun to watch.

Our coaching staff did some damn good evaluation to find this Heyward kid, very quick to diagnose blocking scheme, shows the ability to take on blockers, disengage and explodes into the ball carrier. Very similar style to Monte Gaddis from the legendary '12 team. I would add the fact that this kid looks like he could be extremely effective carrying the football, he looked natural running the ball. Nonetheless, I have to commend the coaching staff for this get.

Parker, the Three-Star from South Jersey showed very impressive closing ability and excellent open-field tackling skills. There wasn't very much film that showed him taking on blocks prior to his tackles, mostly he was chasing down plays from the backside, or shooting the gaps on stunts without engaging blockers. Again, looks very good with open field tackles which might translate better as a safety. He was a Wide Receiver on offense which is very atypical for a "blood thirsty" carnivore position on Defense.

As Brad mentioned, probably a walk-on. Either way, we're loaded with big receivers. Need a burner though to replace Veii.

Matt,

I can see Rob using Shane Simpson in some of the same roles that Veii was involved, certainly not a full time slot receiver but leave it to Rob and the coaching staff to figure out creative ways to exploit his talent.

When you have a coaching staff that can tweek and adapt the scheme to take advantage of the individual's talents, you have the possibility of achieving and surpassing even the highest expectations. Rob's extremely creative at exploiting match ups, expect Rob to find ways to match Shane up with a single LB in coverage.

Always remember it all starts with the "Big Uglies" down in the trenches, without a solid and healthy line the machine breaks down. I'm excited for this season, expectations are high and time for the team to take the next step.

RE: Recruiting Thread
Yes, Shane is certainly an option at the slot. I think we'll miss Veii's speed on kick return coverage though I know that was a problem last season. When you look at the top receivers on the depth chart, we also don't have a lot of depth though I think Nick Gray will play since he's coming this spring. I'm guessing the rest will redshirt unless they blow them away in the summer. That leaves: Dessenburg, Summers, Gallahan, Tighe and r-freshman Jay Galloway, who does have some speed. I think they can certainly use a transfer there because we'll end up playing 2-3 true freshmen or walk-ons for depth purposes.
