ESPN 30-for-30: Phi Slama Jama

Apparently this documentary is being made. It should be fun and is well overdue. Now there's a counter balance to the Survive and Advance documentary.
They also ought to create one for the Run 'N Shoot teams.

There were rumors going around that there was a 30 for 30 being made about ECU's 1999 season and fallout after Hurricane Floyd and Dennis. The Pirates won the Disney spirit award that year and beat 9th ranked Miami in Raleigh while they were stranded away from home due to flooding.

Why would they need actors? They're documentaries.

Because I was an 8 year old that cheered louder than most of the people there. I should be interviewed.

In my opinion, the tournament game of Phi Slamma Jamma VS Louisville's Doctors of Dunk fast-tracked the transformation of high level NCAA college basketball. That Houston group was the most graceful team of all time.

As I said on another message board, anything to do with PSJ is bittersweet to watch. I won't even watch March Madness- unless the Coogs are in it- because I am guaranteed to see a clip of Jimmy V running around looking for someone to hug and that one UH player on his knees slapping the court in agony. Oh well, at least Coach Lewis was finally put into the Naismith HOF before he passed away.

RE: ESPN 30-for-30: Phi Slama Jama
Ok, not to be a grammar nazi or nothin', but it's "Phi Slama Jama". Only one 'm' each in Slama Jama.
And I was there in the student section from 82-84 and afterwards, enduring the stellar highs as well as the deepest of the lows.
Looking back at all the mistakes the administration made from bad AD's to bad coaching hires, to neglecting the facilities... I'm surprised we still have a men's basketball program really. Even before the incarnation of PSJ, crowds were not an issue and we had pro sports.
I think its just the years and years of bad basketball (Brooks, Drexler, McCallum, Dickey) - all save for the Tom Penders years where he actually made us somewhat competitive and did the incredible by winning 4 straight games to win the C-USA tournament - that have driven the fans away.
Just keep winning and the fans will show up again. Sux but it is what it is... for now.
That being said, we have started putting fans in the stands at the football games and I think its just a matter of time for them to show back up for basketball games if Sampson keeps improving the team.

Michael Young was very much beside himself.

Dunno if you meant Michael Young is the player crying on the floor, but that particular player was Renaldo Thomas. God, what was an awful feeling that was.
