it will be interesting...he is technically norvells "guy" on a roster filled with qbs from fuentes

Pretty sure Riley Ferguson is Norvell's guy. Also the QB competition is really just Brady Davis and Riley Ferguson. Moore is going to redshirt.

pretty assertive statement when your coach hasnt even been to 1 practice yet and by rule hasnt seen a single player throw a ball yet..

and Riley is a jc , we'll see how your norvell views that in spring...alot of coaches view jc as depth or as a backup plan..i have no clue how norvell views jc...but we'll see

Also all 4 of the jucos Norvell signed are impact guys. Two at the OT position for depth and 1 who only went to juco for 1 year after transferring in the spring from Alabama. 3 of our jucos originally started at SEC programs to begin their career. They just left because of immaturity, playing time, or injury.

Riley Furguson is a impact juco. He was a highly recruited kid that went to an SEC school in Tennessee. He would of been Tennessee's starting QB after he redshirted if he didn't make immature decisions during spring practice. I can guarantee that Memphis starting QB will be Riley or Brady. Moore is going to redshirt.

im not saying he wont be an impact player...who knows he might win player of the year

but you are doing a lot of crowning before your coach has even seen you players on the field

and secondly riley was never going to start for Tennessee..you have completely miss interpreted quotes from the article in which he said he wished he had stayed.
He was recruited with all-american josh dobbs in the same class.
at no point was he ever above dobbs in the depth chart...dobbs beat him out at first and he transferred out..which is why he said he was immature, that he should have stayed...dobbs struggled at one point and was temperately benched before reclaiming the position....riley's statement was that if he had stayed he would have a had a chance to play when dobbs was struggling and potentially get the starting job

he was never supposed to be the starter for Tennessee

but spring is 2 months away we'll find out....

RE: SMU - Memphis football recruiting
Recruiting arguments have always been intriguing to me.

It's probably safe to say that none of us are recruiting experts and as a group we've not seen very many of the recruits we talk about actually play. The proof is always in their performance over the next 4-5 years.

Fuente was able to do what he did with the majority of the players being non-highly recruited Coaching-up is as important/more important than who you sign (with limits, Lombardi wouldn't have been able coach me up enough to be a 1,500 yd per season rusher).

It will all play out as it should.

You come off very condescending to others just to let you know.

Also agree that we will see in spring but my money is on Riley.

The best we can do is make educated observations and guesses. That is why God gave us a brain.04-cheers

Mack Brown used this approach to recruiting and it worked pretty well for him. I think Morris will do ok.

I'm just thrilled that Memphis is in the football recruiting discussions, and has jumped up to #2 or #3 in the AAC, depending on which service you look at. Amazing to me.

Norvell is easily out-recruiting Fuente the first time out. Now let's see if he can be anywhere nearly as good a coach as Fuente is.

are you really trying to convince a Memphis FANatic to not be excited about Memphis football, coming off 19 wins the last two seasons? lol, good luck with that...all the snark in the world won't get that done.

SMU QB commit David Moore from Georgia decided he wanted to visit Memphis this weekend. So SMU pulled his scholarship?

In any event, Moore is no longer committed to SMU.

O'leary used to do that....recruits that have all the power till signing day hate it

I think Frost offered Moore but he never agreed to visit

Not really...as GOL's message was: "You shop, we shop"...and many times, those same kids ending up signing with UCF.

But O'Leary also was smart in that he pushed for most of his top targets to schedule their official visit to UCF on the LAST WEEKEND before signing day...as you always want to be the last one smiling...let alone know that the player couldn't obviously take an OV visit (or even take an unofficial visit) on that Mon/Tue before signing day.

He better straighten out if that's the problem because Norvell is on some good Louisiania QBs in 2017.

If Norvell can't get him to mature, no one will be able to

You mean lose to bama. Maybe he wil be cam
