Why so much turmoil over losing to a team with an 18-1 record. As it is evident they have beaten 17 other teams and were ranked #13. It is no reason to give up on the season. It ain't over until it's over.

It's over. We can still enjoy the games.

Pastner's teams have often been non-competitive against quality competition.

I think he's been better this season at staying in games, with help from a mix of seniors and a very talented freshman. Those are generally very good qualities for a basketball team.

Saturday had that throwback feel to so many games when Memphis was beaten in the first half.

So What? That is exactly what many Tiger fans are saying about our Pastner coached team:

There are unsold season tickets, so what?
I have tickets and the Tigers are playing tonight, so what?
The Tigers have lost 3 of the last 4 games in our conference, so what?
Pastner's recruiting is in the dumpster, so what?
We are in danger of being at the level of ECU, USF, and UCF in basketball, so what?

The "so what" amounts to apathy. The SMU game was not a single event that spells doom, but it is another indicator that a Josh Pastner coached team can't beat a top 25 team.

The real problem is, there isn't much turmoil.

Exactly. These guys bonded together after getting down and fought until then end. I saw a lot of positives in this loss.

Yay, another moral victory... Too bad that does not count come NCAA tournament selection time, otherwise we would be debating a 1 or 2 seed.

Season ticket sales are down to 11k and likely to hit 8k next year. So what?

Think positive sir. This will give those long term fans an opportunity to upgrade their seats. We all know that this program is getting better and will soon be back on top. I hope those canceling season tickets understand this when they're on the outside looking in of a title contender soon.

They lost focus. Forgot how to play the game. Josh has since developed the guys into believing in themselves again. It's part of the growing process.

While they certainly shot great vs UCF...that wasn't the case when they were down by 25 pts to SMU (didn't look like they were focused or had any belief).

Memphis is just like a lot of other teams with some very good talent (some experienced, some not), that if they shoot well they win, if they don't, they might find themselves in a 1 pt game with a last place team...but odds are, Memphis will play good in enough games to end up with a winning record in conf.

What's wrong with "moral victories"? Some of us like to focus on the positives even in defeat. This team is improving because Josh has them believing.

Those that drop their season tix now, those said same dropped season tix will again be available when a new coach is hired and the basketball Tigers are again relevant, will again be available to the same fans that have canceled out on their same season tix. As it stands now, many don't want them and they're hard to even give away. So yea, they'll be available again and the one's who've dropped (me included if Paz is still here next year) will again be available to us. Apathy is a program killer, and right now it's here in a big way.
