Yes, there was, and it was just as wrong as what these folks are trying to do by having "blacks only" dorms. Racism and the resentment and violence it engenders cuts both ways. Equality means everyone has equal rights: no affirmative action, no quotas, no favoritism for white, black, or any other, for any reason or excuse just merit. Things like "Black Lives Matter," UNCF, NAACP, Rainbow coalition promote and incite racism.

Stop making skin color a factor anywhere. Stop even asking people or requiring people to indicate race on ANY form or statistical collection, and then you begin to achieve true equality. Just stop asking any racial questions at all and stop collecting and parsing any racial data by anyone.

The death of Emmett Till

While visiting family in Money, Mississippi, 14-year-old Emmett Till, an African American from Chicago, is brutally murdered for flirting with a white woman four days earlier when he went into Bryant's Grocery & meat Market to buy some bubble gum. His assailants–the white woman’s husband and her brother–made Emmett carry a 75-pound cotton-gin fan to the bank of the Tallahatchie River and ordered him to take off his clothes. The two men then beat him nearly to death, gouged out his eye, shot him in the head, and then threw his body, tied to the cotton-gin fan with barbed wire, into the river.



Less than two weeks after Emmett’s body was buried, Milam and Bryant went on trial in a segregated courthouse in Sumner, Mississippi. There were few witnesses besides Mose Wright, who positively identified the defendants as Emmett’s killers. On September 23, the all-white jury deliberated for less than an hour before issuing a verdict of “not guilty,” explaining that they believed the state had failed to prove the identity of the body. Many people around the country were outraged by the decision and also by the state’s decision not to indict Milam and Bryant on the separate charge of kidnapping.

The Emmett Till murder trial brought to light the brutality of Jim Crow segregation in the South.

It's easy to pile on UCONN here, and fun, but the truth of the matter is that the administrations of the alma maters of just about everybody posting would undoubtedly do the same thing if given the push.

The only exceptions being those who went to private Christian schools. If you went to a public university, or a national school, your administration is probably thinking of a way to embrace this new wave of progressivism right now; and professors on these campuses are combing the dandruff out of their hair and cracking their knuckles to peck out some self loathing, and yet strikingly self serving, rationalization for why this is the future and the rednecks and racists in the surrounding provinces should join them in the 21st century of progress.

It's so beautiful it almost brings a tear to your eye.

Only if they are true Christian universities and colleges. I attend a Methodist school (currently in the Disney College Program) but back on campus a bunch of silly protests broke out and the administration yielded to them. Of course, the school is Methodist is name only.
