It just closed its doors permanently like an hour ago.

The final note of the band happened about 1:30 AM, and they stopped serving drinks.

I'm sure there are some other Blazer fans on here who frequently gave them their patronage.

A victim of gentrification or urban development, Birmingham just won't be the same without them!

What eateries around UAB today are considered the best for hungry students?

Back when I was a student there in 1970-1972, the only "on campus" refreshment was the 30 cup coffee percolator in Dean Hugh Harper's office which is pictured in UAB's first annual. Off campus you had the original location of "Sneaky Pete" on 8th (which was operated by its founder before it became franchised) and the "Spinning Wheel" on the corner of 8th and 20th North which had moved from East Lake (where its location was noted for the large polar bear statues). For a "sit down dinner" you had Mrs. Todd's cafeteria in the Towne House Hotel.

The Burly Earl was a regular pregame & post game stop for us for over 20 years until it closed.

Funniest thing I ever read on a men's room wall was above a urinal at Burly's.
