I don't agree that he didn't try hard but it wasn't one of his top priorities

Fuente was working on establishing a culture. Norvell is working to continuing success and making that next push

I figured that Caleb dropped off due to other options.

I don't agree that Fuente didn't try hard at recruiting.

I do think that Norvell and this staff are all "recruiting warriors" who are fearless. Their personalities are outwardly a little bit more friendly and dynamic and this may help them to be more successful in establishing relationships more quickly.

Bottom line - Fuente and staff were exactly what we needed then. I think Norvell and his staff will take us to the next level based on their ability (it appears) to recruit higher rated players. I think next recruiting year will really tell the story.

Great things are ahead.

Fuente was not an aggressive recruiter and that just all it is to it. I never understood why he never went after higher profile kids that could take us to the next level. He was content with two stars and walk ons

Not true. You realize he had to build depth here at first. He needed bodies. Norvell is just building on to that and he has the luxury to go after higher rated guys a little more aggressive since we have our numbers back at up. Both coaches are coming into different situations. Not fair to start saying who is a better recruiter.

It is true last year we were conference champs and played in one of the best years bowl games plus we won ten games and finished in the top 25 and we still had a sub par recruiting class for our level of success. Let me remind you of something. When porter took over his numbers were low as well and he brought in much better class than fuente. Porter had a better class than fuente ever had even after his 1-11 season. Much if that talent fuente himself benefitted from. So no fuente was just not a recruiter that's just all it is to it.

Fuente had very little brand equity to work with when he got here. Memphis was literally the worst team in Div 1.

If Norvell can recruit like Porter and develop kids like Fuente, I'd say get yo season tickets now, because it's gonna be a fantastic ride
