WBB Game 21 vs FIU (Lady Monarch Alumni Day)
When a basketball team has yet to win a conference game, the classy and polite thing to say is that they are hungry for their first win of the season. When a basketball team hasn’t had a conference win since March 13th, 2014 (against Tulane), you can call them the Florida International University Golden Panthers. They went 0-18 in Con USA last year and this season they are 0-8. So hungry for a first win....probably starving.
The Golden Panthers have a new head coach this season. Marlin Chinn. He is a former graduate of Hampton University (BS in accounting) who has served as an assistant coach for Mount St Mary’s (7 seasons), Seton Hall (5 seasons), and Maryland (6 seasons). He is widely phrased for his job as a recruiter and this is his first time serving as head coach.

Don't be fooled by the record. They are actually better than there record overall. This is a classic trap game. ODU can't play soft expecting everything to be easy. The Panthers have nothing to lose...and well, everything to gain with a win.
FIU is the game where Simms scored 45 points last season. While she probably could do that again, I would much rather see the team orientated approach that the LM showed against FAU. Still 17 points will get her into the 1,000 ODU LM point club. On a day where we will celebrate 1,000 wins. That might be rather…neato.
And it’s going to an exciting Alumni Day. Marianne Stanley, Anne Donovan, Ticha Penicheiro, and Nyree Roberts are just a few of the names that will come to town. It’s going to be fun and the first 1,000 fans get a free shirt.
It would be nice to see some faces in the stands who have not been to a game this season. If the LM play Saturday like they did on Thursday, you are going to enjoy yourself!
