If it's January....
Must be time to renew football tickets. I got a call from athletics asking if I wanted to renew my football tickets. I guess Barry Alverez Jr. Must have his B1G athletic director book out and it must say under rule 3.1.6 sub paragraph 9 that another good revenue source is to make paying customers give you their money eight months before they set foot in your stadium so you can collect interest. Really. Even at a robust 2% is it really worth it for $5,333. 4,000 season tickets at $100 a throw all renewed early at 2% for eight months. I admire the vision, but give it a rest. Let us renew like we did in April and hold our money for four months. The fans aren't ATMs.

If it's January....
I will renew my season tickets and HAF donation when I usually do - about a week before the deadline. I write a pretty big check and I could use the time.

RE: If it's January....
Wait months after the OB but jump right on it after the biggest disappoint in recent memory, sounds about right. I got a call too and I was happy that they're already focused on getting the season ticket base going. Besides, it's not like the deadline isn't still April. No one has to pay now, NIU is not in this for the time value of money. This is marketing, not finance.

Smart post. This is not about the time value of money at today's interest rates which are near zero.

RE: If it's January....
Season ticket renewal and the HASF donation paperwork always gets started this time of year. Final payment for both is normally not due until June or July.

Get your renewal paperwork, commit to renewing your tickets and/or your donations, pay over the next 5 months, and quit complaining.

Not saying its good to complain about stuff like this, but I understand someone being frustrated by it. The football team quit in its last game and then you are asking fans to make that extra commitment, probably does not go over so well.

RE: If it's January....
the fans have quit on the football team, not the other way around. Sure there are diehards like us, but you can't blame them for wanting early commitments considering our fan base is trash.

I received a call also. The person said that NIU adjusted the season tickets a bit and now my seats are eligible for the family plan discount which would save me over $100 while keeping the same seat location.

I wish that was the case. I don't think it is possible to get destroyed as badly as they did without quitting. Sure, maybe not every player quit, but most of them did.

hahaha, seriously. People on here can just get insane. It's like they are just actively looking for ways to put NIU down, while still complaining about how our sports teams don't recruit well enough, or don't play well enough, or don't have the right coaches.

"I want NIU to play, recruit, and compete at the next level, but you better not try and sell me season tickets four months early!!!"

If anything, I think the fans would dig this. They can shore things up early and take their time paying. How is this bad? "I want your product, just don't sell it to me too soon"?? Whaaaa?

Let's see..who was that small school that beat Michigan at
Ann Arbor a couple of years ago....The Mich fans still came out since that game...
We played with a 4th string walk on freshman QB What the hell should be have expected against a good team like Boise State
Some NIU fans are like White Sox fans
