I agree with no time out. We give G lawn or Cromer the ball and they put their head down and drive and shoot late in the game. No need to waste a time out to draw that play up. Sorry effort for most of the game. VMI will be an easy win. They are the worst team that has come to Johnson City in 10 years.

RE: Official Game Thread: @ Furman (L 70-74)
There are six things that a team can execute for 40 minutes of every game. If the teams talent level is fairly equal and in some cases even less, the team that does the best job of executing these six disciplines will win most of the time.

discipline....hustle....defense....rebounding.....free throws....run the offense

At this time the Bucs are only doing bits and pieces of each. No consistency.

The players are capable but they have to execute the game plan given to them by the coaching staff, a plan the team practiced, and stop this playground crap or this season will end quickly in Asheville.

Looking at both halves shows the inconsistency, of course. Got whipped the first half, won the second by eight. Two second halves and we whip them good. Not a coach, but sure Forbes and staff are trying to figure out how to close the inconsistency gap, especially how to get them out of the starting gate fully charged and fully motivated.

Went to the game. Furman students were heckling the **** out of Cromer (calling him a chia pet), Jurkin, and at times Forbes' and his wife. After going to wofford two days before, i can easily say that I hate these two teams as much as Chatt.

Could not defend the lane to save our life. Constantly getting beat by a driving Croone. Our post is abysmal right now. Personally, I think there should have been a timeout called on either possession where Cromer and Ge'lawn tried to tie the game on a shot from pretty much the same spot.

Also, does anyone think we should be pressing more? We only seem to REALLY press and produce turnovers when were down by 10 with ~5 minutes left.

We should be pressing more no doubt. I was hoping that Forbes was going to bring in that 40 minutes of hell type of style of play at the beginning of the year. But then I thought well he is still feeling out what kind of team he had. Now we only do it when it's desperation time. Glad someone else is questioning that also.

We didn't really play that well in the 2nd half, we had 1 really good minute.

Timeline.. roughly 4 minutes to go we are down 57-72.
3 1/2 minutes we are down 60-72.
(don't score for a minute)
2 1/2 minutes still down 60-72.
Next minute we score 10 points (part of 13-0 run) So
1 1/2 minutes left we are down 70-72.
We don't score again for the last minute and a half,
they hit 2 free throws with 2 seconds left
We lose 70-74.
Furman only scored 2 points in the last 4 minutes, free throws. we closed the game
with a 13-2 run but in that 4 minute span we went scoreless for 2 1/2 of it.

That had to be one of the largest crowds in Furman history. Every time I've ever been there it's been like going to a sparsely attended funeral.

Tough loss with some serious offensive and defensive lapses. Just a few more stops...Alas.

There student section was as good as I've witnessed in sometime.

I'm sure Furman fans, and all their "class" was heckling plenty. That's their M. O. I've always hated Furman more than any other team in this league. I have way more respect for Chattanooga. Furman's fans are the worst. If I see any of their sorry asses at Freedom Hall it will be fun. For me. Please come bless Johnson City with your presence, you pieces of ****.

I will always pull for you guys over Wofford, Furman or Mercer. The perfect world is all Tennessee finals every year in Asheville (they way it should be).

Chattanooga and ETSU are sibling rivals that want to be beat the living crap out of each other...but at the end of the day, we're public schools and Tennesseans.

I went to the game. Those Furman students were rough on our bunch, for sure. Not only the frat boys behind the goal (they moved to the other side at halftime so they could be on top of our free throw shooters), but also the football team that was practically on the floor. I caught them pointing and making eye contact with our players, trying to trash talk them.

I'd cut a finger off to see our football bunch knock their heads off.

Was at the game also. I know the students were having a big time but some of their comments were very rude & tasteless. I hope our Mutiny & students pack Freedom Hall & hope our team get some big time payback when Furman comes to town!! #ETSUTough Go Bucs!!

The one good thing about the students moving at halftime prosec34, our guys did not miss one free throw!!!!

Forbes:
Quote:....but we took way too many contested shots. At halftime, we only had two assists so we went back to the high-low game in the second half. We shared the ball better and our 3-point shots were more inside-out instead of creating on their own.”

That.
See, Forbes is plenty smart enough to figure these things out; he sees the problems (almost always). But for some reason he either can't do it on the fly, or can't get the team to do it on the fly. Adjustments have to be made during the crises, not at halftime or with 4 minutes left in the game. And he knows that, too.

I almost posted before the beginning of this road trip that we would be *lucky* to go 2-2, but didn't want to "bet against myself", so kept that quiet. This team is trying to fully gel, but can't quite seem to put all the pieces together at the same time.

Yes. I wonder, too, if having new guys in a new system inhibits those real-time adjustments. Experienced teams with a core of veterans are extensions of the coach on the floor.

Not an excuse, just an an observation, but WE REALLY miss AJ. He's a glue guy who undoubtedly would've affected the games tangibly and intangibly.

Furman is that nice little Christian school....wrong. They go by their initials of FU. They even print up shirts. Sportsmanship....Furman has none. You have to go a long way to get under the skin of some of our fans. They traveled a long way to see the game. Those nasty Furman fans know they will stand before the judge and they will say we were just kidding yelling all those things in front of the ladies of ETSU. Somebody needs to knock their block off. Another recruiting class and Forbes will have the players to do it. Furman....ETSU is coming for you and it won't be pretty. No mercy. Every other team in the league has more sportsmanship than you.
